What is planned?
PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT
1990 ECCLESIASTICAL EXEMPTION (LISTED BUILDINGS AND
CONSERVATION AREAS) ORDER 1994
TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to the procedures of the Baptist Union of
Great Britain and the Baptist Union of Wales for the purposes of the above
named Order Haddenham Baptist Church has applied to the Listed
Buildings Advisory Committee for a Certificate of Authorisation to carry out
the following works to their premises:
• Remove all render and repair wychert where required. Rerender in appropriate lime render and redecorate all external
walls with white breathable paint.
• Repair and re-decorate external windows and doors.
• Repair and re-decorate entrance porch.
• Instal new cast aluminium gutters and downpipes.
• Install new foul and storm water underground systems.
• Install new external lighting.
• Remove and rebuild the entrance pillar to provide a wider
entrance for construction work and re-instate on completion
• Tarmac courtyard in parking area and extend to previous
cobbled area adjacent to highway. Provide stone flags to
entrance area under the porch. Area around the school room
and adjacent to the prayer room to be gravelled with small
chippings.
• Construct new link corridor between the church and school room
including the replacement of the lead roof to the vestry and
reconstruct the entrance façade and door outside the vestry at
the southern end to match existing. Interior to be plastered and
painted with limecrete floor and new lighting.
• Remove failed reed and plaster ceiling in the chapel and
reinstate in plasterboard including the curved sides.
• Insulate the ceiling and board the attic space for safe access.
• Install new high-level lighting in the chapel to replace those
fittings associated with the replacement ceiling (existing lowlevel lighting to remain in situ).
• Repair the worst areas of the internal plaster with lime and redecorate locally.
The Church building is listed Grade II and is in a Conservation Area.
