ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1) (AS AMENDED)
The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the parish of Levisham in the county of North Yorkshire:
Public Footpath 217 Levisham: (A-B)
No pedestrian shall proceed along this footpath commencing at Grid Reference SE 8425 9520 (Point A – Needle Eye) through Cropton Forest, over the railway and then through Pifelhead Wood to Grid Reference SE 8456 9475 (Point B – near Havern Beck). A total distance of 1,153 metres.
Alternative route: (C-B)
Pedestrians shall proceed along this route commencing at Grid Reference SE 8338 9492 (Point C – Newton Dale Halt) over and then alongside the railway, through Pifelhead Wood and along Yew Tree Scar to Grid Reference SE 8456 9475 (Point B – near Havern Beck).
The Order is necessary to allow for a large number of trees to be cleared from the footpath in Pifelhead Wood.
The closure takes effect from 24 April 2025 and will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices and signs.
