What is planned?
Abandonment – Carneyhaugh Business Park, Newry – Re-Advertisement
Infrastructure (DfI), being of the opinion that the road is not necessary for road traffic, gives notice of its intention to make an Order under Article 68 of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993, the effect of which would be to abandon an area of 71 square metres of road at Carneyhaugh Business Park, Newry commencing at a point 27 metres south-west of the junction of the Rathfriland Road with the entrance to the Carneyhaugh
Business Park and continuing for a distance of 19.8 metres in a south-westerly direction. The area of road proposed to be abandoned is delineated on a map which, together with a copy of a draft Order, may be inspected free of charge during office hours within the period 13 May 2025 to 24 June 2025 at DfI Roads Southern Division, Newry Mourne & Down (West) Section Office, Carnbane Depot, 2 Springhill Road, Newry BT35 6EF or viewed online at

Inspection of the draft Order and map is by appointment only which can be arranged either by e-mail using the e-mail address below or by telephone during office hours (Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm) on 0300 200 7899.

Temporary Speed Limit and
Prohibition of Overtaking
B8 Hilltown Road, Newry
Notice is hereby given in compliance with paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 3 of the Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 that the Department for Infrastructure, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 7(1) and (3) of the said Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, proposes to impose a 40 miles per hour speed limit and prohibition of overtaking on –
B8 Hilltown Road, Newry from existing 40 mph speed limit signs located 143 metres from the A25 Rathfriland Road roundabout in a South Easterly direction to 150 m past the junction with C334 Derryleckagh Road.
From 09:30 to 16:30 each weekday for a period of 6 weeks from Monday 12 May 2025 until Friday 27 June 2025.
Being satisfied that traffic should be restricted because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near B8 Hilltown Road Newry.
Traffic signs warning that the use of the road is subject to the above speed limit restriction and to the above prohibition and to indicate the nature and extent of the restriction and prohibition will be erected on the road in due course.
