SECTION 14 – THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

NOTICE OF TRAFFIC ORDERS FOR TEMPORARY ROAD AND FOOTPATH CLOSURES

Notice is given that SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL intends to make following orders:

(STRO01089 Devizes Road, Swindon). This Order is being introduced for WALES AND WEST and will impose a prohibition of driving on Devizes Road between junctions of Wood Street and Newport Street. Traffic to be diverted via Northbound traffic via Newport Street, High Street, Cricklade Street, Drove Road, Groundwell Road and Victoria Road. Southbound traffic via Victoria Road, Regent Circus, Princes Street, Clarence Street, Groundwell Road, Drove Road, Cricklade Street, High Street. The Order comes into force on the 30 June 2025 for 6 months but works are expected to take place between 30 October 2025.

(STRO01071 Kingsdown Lane, Swindon). This Order is being introduced for NEW GAS SERVICE and will impose a closure of Kingsdown Lane adjacent to Fairview. Access to be maintained. The Order comes into force on the 16 June 2025 for 6 months but works are expected to take place between 16 to 20 June 2025.

(STRO01094 Albert Street, Swindon). This Order is being introduced for TELECOMMUNICATION WORKS and will impose a prohibition of driving on Albert Street between Wood Street and Little London Court. Traffic to be diverted via Belle Vue Road, Cricklade Street and Wood Street. The Order comes into force on the 30 June 2025 for 6 months but works are expected to take place between 30 June to 9 July 2025.

(STRO01069 Idovers Drive, Swindon). This Order is being introduced for SSEN WORKS and will impose a closure of the footpath from Idovers Drive leading to Chalgrove Field. Pedestrians to be diverted to the footpath adjacent to play area. The Order comes into force on the 9 June 2025 for 6 months but works are expected to take place between 9 to 13 June 2025.

(STRO01050 Murdock Road, Swindon). This Order is being introduced for TELECOM MAINTENANCE WORKS and will impose a prohibition of driving on Murdock Road outside Garden of Eden Care. ACCESS TO MAINTAINED FOR BUSINESSES. The Order comes into force on the 3 June 2025 for 6 months but works are expected to take place overnight on the 3/4 June 2025 between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00.

(STRO01045 Bath Road and Goddard Avenue, Swindon). This Order is being introduced for THAMES WATER and will impose a prohibition of driving on Bath Road (westbound lane only) at the junction of Goddard Avenue and Goddard Avenue outside No 155. Traffic to be diverted via Bath Road, Devizes Road and Weston Street. The Order comes into force on the 2 June 2025 for 6 months but works are expected to take place between 2 to 4 June 2025 only.

(STRO00974 Footpaths 6 and 16 South Marston). This Order is made for ARCHAEOLOGICAL WORKS and will impose a closure of PROWS footpaths as follow:

  • Public Footpath 15 South Marston from Old Vicarage Lane to Public Footpath 6 South Marston – alternative route Old Vicarage Lane south westwards alongside railway boundary fence to Public Footpath 6.

  • Public Footpath 6 South Marston from Public Footpath 5 South Marston for approx. 200m in a south easterly direction – alternative route from northern end of closure generally south around edge of field. The Order came into the force on the 4 November 2024 for 6 months but to allow for continuation of works the Secretary of State has approved the closure to be extended until the 4 May 2026.
