The Ecclesiastical Exemption (Listed Buildings and Conservation
Areas) (England) Order 2010 (SI 2010 1176)
Ecclesiastical Exemption Decree and Canon 1276

Application reference #1440 dated 11/03/2025 has been received by the
above Committee for approval of the following works to an exempt
ecclesiastical building.
1. Portsmouth Cathedral Church of St John the Evangelist (Church) -
Portsmouth. Grade II (Listing Number: 1104269)
2. Works Proposed: Strip and replace existing lead lined parapet gutters to
St Patrick’s Chapel and Aula roofs. Increase the depth of the sumps and alter
outlets, with lead overflow chutes rather than enclosed lead pipe to improve
discharge of rainwater.
3. Applicant: Rev James McAuley - Portsmouth Cathedral – Bishops House,
Bishop Crispian Way, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO1 3HG.
