Blackpool, Princes Way, Anchorsholme - Proposed Coast Protection Work.
What is planned?
THE COAST PROTECTION ACT 1949 NOTICE OF PROPOSED COAST PROTECTION WORK
Blackpool Council, acting in their capacity as coast protection authority, hereby give notice under section 5(1) of the above Act that they propose to carry out coast protection work at Princes Way, Anchorsholme, Blackpool.
The work will consist of adding rock armour stone to the existing coastal revetment. This will raise the height of the revetment by 3.5 metres, extend the northern and southern extents by approximately 25m and extend the toe of the revetment approximately 10m further seaward. The work also includes constructing five new rock groynes extending 75-125m offshore from the existing revetment, and installing navigation markers at the end of groynes, where required, for safe navigation. The estimated cost of the work is £30m.
Details of the work proposed as well as copies of the relevant shoreline management plan can be inspected during the normal staffed opening hours at Anchorsholme Library (Luton Road, Blackpool, FY5 3RS).
Any person may no later than 06/05/2025 serve a notice of objection to the proposal on the Secretary of State and on the Council. Any such notice must contain a statement of the grounds of objection and must be delivered to or sent by post or email to the Secretary of State and to the Chief Executive of the Council. Notices to be posted may be addressed to the Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Flood Management,
Ergon House, 17 Smith Square, London SW1P 3JR and to the Chief Executive at 1 Bickerstaffe Square, Talbot Road Blackpool, FY1 3AH.
