NOTICE OF TRAFFIC ORDERS FOR TEMPORARY ROAD AND FOOTPATH CLOSURES/RESTRICTIONS
Notice is given that SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL made/extended the following orders:
(STRO00964 Old Vicarage Lane South Marston) This Order is being introduced for CONSTRUCTION works and will impose a prohibition of driving and 30mph on Old Vicarage Lane between Carpenters Arms and Rowborough Lane. Access to Carpenters Arms to be maintained. Traffic to be diverted via Thornhill Road and A420. Order effective from the 4 March 2025 for 12 months.
(STRO00965 Thornhill Road, South Marston) This Order is being introduced for CONSTRUCTION works and will impose a prohibition of driving and 30mph speed restriction on Thornhill Road between Keypoint Roundabout and Morses Lane. Traffic to be diverted via Old Vicarage Lane and A420 with the exception of HGV vehicles over 7.5 tonnes which will be diverted via A420 to White Hart Roundabout, A419, A361 Highworth Road, Supermarine Road and Highworth Road. Order effective from the 4 March 2025 for 12 months.
(STRO00988 Hawksworth Way Subway) This Order is being introduced for works to HAWKSWORTH WAY SUBWAY and will impose a temporary closure of Hawksworth Way and western flyer at the subway. Pedestrian/cyclists access to be maintained. Traffic to be diverted via the B4289 Great Western Way. Order effective from the 24 March 2025 for 6 months but it is expected works will be taking place on the 24 March to 19 May 2025 approx.
(STRO01024 Temple Street, Swindon) This Order is being introduced for ELECTRICAL CABLE works and will impose a prohibition of driving on the side road between Temple Street and Commercial Road. Traffic to be diverted via Temple Street. Order effective from the 24 March 2025 for 6 months but it is expected works will be taking place on the 24 to 28 March 2025.
(STRO01034 A361 Highworth Road, South Marston) This Order is being introduced for HIGHWAY in an area of construction site access and will impose a 30mph speed limit on the A361 Highworth Road, South Marston, from 50 metres south of Supermarine Roundabout to 215 metres north of Beech Farm access. Order effective from the 1 March 2025 for 18 months.
(STRO1035 M4 Overbridge, Swindon) This Order is being introduced for National Highways Safety Scheme and will impose a closure of the footway, the carriageway reduced to one lane and a 30mph speed restriction on the Croft Road between Broome Manor and B4006 Junctions. Order effective from the 1 March 2025 for 18 months.
(STRO00926 PROW FP35 Wroughton) This Order is made for infrastructure delivery works and will impose a closure of PROW footpath WR35 running north along the South Leaze track from the junction with PROW WR41 near South Leaze bridge. Alternative route None available due to construction works.
Order came into force on the 7 October 2024 until the 7 March 2025 but approval has been given by the Secretary of State to extend the closure until March 2026 to allow for completion of works.
(STRO0713 PROW FP 8 and 22 Wanborough) This Order is introduced to allow for the construction of the Southern Connector Road and will temporarily close PROW footpath WA8 and PROW footpath WA22 between western side of the Southern Connector Road and the A419.
No alternative route available. The Order came into force on the 14 September 2023 for 6 months, but the Secretary of State has approved for the Order to be extended until 14 March 2026 to allow for completion of works.
(STRO00947 PROW 6 Castle Eaton) This Order is made for safety during footbridge replacement works and will impose a closure of PROW footpath 5 castle eaton forming part of the Thames Path National Trail between Blackford Lane, Castle Eaton and Bridge Farm Road, Hannington Wick.
Alternative route from the western end of the closure turn right, southwards, along Public Bridleway 6 and then continue eastwards along the same route to Hannington Lane. Turn left and then right to follow Hannington Lane and then Bridge Farm Road generally north-eastwards and then north-westwards to the eastern end of the closure.
Alternative route from the eastern end of the closure is the reverse of the above. The Order comes into the force on the 30 September 2024 to 30 March 2025 and approval has been from the Secretary of State to extend the closure until 30 September 2025 to allow for completion of works.
(STRO0234 PROW Footpath 10 and 35 Wroughton) This Order is being introduced to allow construction works and will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along section of PROW footpath 10A from the main footpath and South Leaze Track footpath 35 from north of the South Leaze track to the junction with Scott Way, Wichelstowe. Pedestrians to be diverted via the canal towpath, footways on Peglars Way and Scott Way. The Order will come into force on the 17 March 2025 for 6 months.
