"Sundon Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Community Consultation Event

Statera Energy Limited is proposing the Sundon BESS project, the development would consist of a 500MW battery energy storage scheme, connecting directly into the existing Sundon National Grid substation. The project would help to store electricity, particularly from excess renewables and feed it back to the grid when required. If developed, the project would be capable of providing 540,000 homes with instantaneous green energy. This is more than 7 times the number of households in Bedfordshire.

In advance of submitting a planning application, Statera is hosting two community consultation events:

Wednesday, 22nd January 2025, at Chalton Village Hall, LU4 9UL from 15:30 to 19:00.
Wednesday, 29th January 2025, at Wilkinson Hall, Toddington, LU5 6BN from 15:30 to 19:00.

These events will provide detailed information about the proposed development and offer an opportunity to engage with the project team, ask questions, and share feedback.

From 22nd January 2025, exhibition materials will also be available to view online at www.sundonbess.co.uk.

This notice does not relate to a planning application and comments should not be made to Central Bedfordshire Council. Any comments made to the Sundon BESS project team are not representations to the Planning Authority. If a planning application is subsequently submitted to Central Bedfordshire Council, normal neighbour notification and publicity will be undertaken and the public will have the opportunity to make formal representations on that planning application at that time"
