What is planned?

Section 16 of the Commons Act 2006

Proposed deregistration of common land at:

ST CHRISTOPHER’S GREEN AND THE FAIRGROUND COMMON

(CL340)

Waverley Borough Council has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs under section 16 of the Commons Act 2006 for land forming part of the above-mentioned registered common land (the “release land”) to cease to be so registered. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State.

The release land is located at Wey Hill Car Park, Haslemere. The release land is of little benefit for air and exercise given its use as a car park and size following deregistration of the majority of the site on 31 January 2019 by order granted pursuant to application ref. COM/3205089. It is proposed that land (the “replacement land”) be registered as common land in place of the release land.

The release land and the replacement land are described in the application form and accompanying plans and documents which can be inspected at Haslemere Library, 91 Wey Hill, Haslemere, Surrey GU27 1HP between the hours of 9:30am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday, until 17 January 2025. A copy of the application may be obtained by writing to legal.admin@waverley.gov.uk.

Any representations in respect of the proposed deregistration should be sent in writing ON or BEFORE 17 January 2025 to: Common Land Team, The Planning Inspectorate, 3A Temple Quay House, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6PN or commonlandcasework@planninginspectorate.gov.uk.

If you use artificial intelligence (AI) to create or alter any part of documents, information or data submitted with a representation, you should tell The Planning Inspectorate that you have done so when you submit it. See the detailed use of artificial intelligence in casework evidence guidance for further information.

Representations sent to The Planning Inspectorate cannot be treated as confidential. They will be copied to the applicant and possibly to other interested parties. To find out more about how the Planning Inspectorate uses and manages personal data, please go to the privacy notice.
