(A1023 High Street & Crown Street, Brentwood) (Lighting up Brentwood) (Special Events) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that Essex County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 16 (A-C) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), has made the above Order to facilitate the switching on of the Christmas Lights.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close the following lengths of A1023 High Street & Crown Street in the Borough of Brentwood, as specified :

A1023 High Street, Brentwood | From its junction with Kings Road/Weald Road to its junction with Ingrave Road/ Ongar Road, a distance of approximately 570 metres. |
Crown Street, Brentwood | From its junction with High Street to its junction with Hart Street, a distance of approximately 50 metres. |
The one-way restrictions on Hart Street as detailed in ‘The London Traffic (Prescribed Routes) (Brentwood) Regulations 1965’ is hereby temporarily suspended for the duration of the event. All other restrictions contained within the aforementioned order shall remain in force.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 23 November 2024 for 1 day between the hours of 7.00am until 21.00pm or where appropriate signs are showing, and weather permitting and is required to facilitate the switching on of the Christmas Lights.
The alternative routes
Route 1 for southbound traffic will be via A128 Ingrave Road – Queens Road – Kings Road and vice versa.
Route 2 for northbound traffic will be via Weald Road – Western Road – William Hunter Way and A128 Ongar Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access to premises will be permitted throughout the closure. Access to Emergency Services will be permitted at all times.
The Order will come into effect on 23 November 2024 and may continue in force for 3 days unless extended by the Secretary of State.
(Orchard Lane, Pilgrims Hatch) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic
& Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order :
1. To temporarily close that length of Orchard Lane, Pilgrims Hatch in the Borough of Brentwood, from its junction with Ongar Road to its junction with Crow Green Lane a distance of approximately 335m.
2. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.
“The Essex County Council (Brentwood Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The closure/clearway is scheduled to commence on 1st December 2024 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2377140 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway surfacing works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Ongar Road, Crow Green Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 20th November 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Billericay Road, Herongate) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order : To temporarily close that length of Billericay Road, Herongate in the Borough of Brentwood, from its junction with Blind Lane to its junction with Dunton Road a distance of approximately 885m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th November 2024 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2376141 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Dunton Road, Rectory Road, Clock House Road, Botney Hill Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 6th November 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Ingatestone Road, Blackmore) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024 Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ingatestone Road, Blackmore in the Borough of Brentwood, from its junction with Wenlocks Lane for a distance of approximately 80m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th November 2024 for 1day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008OGEA78039625RCSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Ingatestone Road, Mountnessing Road, Swallows Cross Road, Thoby Lane, Roman Road, Mountnessing-ingatestone Link Road, High Street, Fryerning Lane, Blackmore Road, Mill Green Road, Chelmsford Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 6th November 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
