What is planned?

TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990 - SECTION 78 APPEAL ON BEHALF OF FIRMA VOGT SOLAR LIMITED - BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM (BESS) ON LAND AT WESTFIELD ROAD, CARLTON, LEEDS (EASTING 433221, NORTHING 427364).

Firma Vogt Solar Limited applied to Leeds City Council in November 2023 for planning permission (23/06404/FU) for the Installation, operation, and decommissioning of a 50MW Battery Energy Storage System with associated infrastructure and works.

On 3rd May 2024 the application was refused. Under SECTION 78 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 Firma Vogt Solar Limited lodged a planning Appeal (APP/N4720/W/24/3354875).

Firma Vogt Solar Limited are proposing some minor modifications to the project prior to the appeal being determined. These proposed amendments arise from additional design work undertaken including the addition of an acoustic fence and acoustic enclosures around some key infrastructure, updated landscaping proposals and the removal of some unnecessary infrastructure.

The revised plans and development information are available on the development website (www.westfieldbess.com) and hard copies of the plans can be downloaded from here. The original planning application drawings and documents remain available on the Council’s website:
https://publicaccess.leeds.gov.uk/online-applications/ using the reference 23/06404/FU.
