East Common, Harpenden, Planning Notice, Application for Restricted Works on Common Land
What is planned?
SITE NOTICE
Harpenden Cricket Club have applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006/section 23(2) of the National Trust Act 1971 to carry out restricted works on East Common. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State.
The proposals comprise two cricket lanes totalling approximately 219 sqm in land take which includes 85.4 sqm of new matting. The new nets measure 30m in length, 7.3m in width and 4m in height representing a minor area of open space. The enclosure, which measures 133.6 sqm, will be formed using a galvanized steel post system standing at 4 metres in height with the individual cricket lanes formed with a woven netting. The ground surface will comprise a green carpet over a hardcore base. The works will be located at Harpenden Cricket Club, East Common, Harpenden, Hertfordshire, AL5 1DT
