PUBLIC NOTICES
The Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 (the “Act”) Stirling Tree Preservation Order (No.3) 2024
Notice is hereby given that Stirling Council (referred to below as the “Council”) as planning authority in exercise of their powers conferred upon them by section 160 of the Act have made the Stirling Tree Preservation Order (No.3) 2024 (referred to below as the “Order”). The Order takes effect from 14th August 2024.
The Order has been made following the submission of a Conservation Area Tree Works notification to Stirling Council for the removal of a mature Sequoiadendron giganteum (Wellingtonia/Giant Redwood) in the grounds of 32C Chalton Road, Bridge of Allan. One of many now maturing specimen trees in Bridge of Allan Conservation Area, the tree is visually significant to the amenity and character of the Conservation Area when viewed from both Chalton Road and Kenilworth Road. In addition the tree has climate change/carbon store value. For this reason, Stirling Council wish to promote a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) on the Sequoiadendron giganteum (Wellingtonia/Giant Redwood) within the grounds of 32C Chalton Road, Bridge of Allan to ensure any tree works or future development does not adversely affect the long-term retention of the trees. A TPO will ensure greater long-term control over future tree works.
A copy of the Order will be deposited at the Bridge of Allan Library, Fountain Road, Bridge of Allan, FK9 4AT for inspection by any person without payment on Monday and Friday (9:00am-1:00pm, 2:00pm-5:00pm), Tuesday and Thursday (9:00am-1:00pm, 2:00pm-7:00pm) and Wednesday and Saturday (9:30am to 12:30pm) and at the offices of the planning authority at Teith House, Kerse Rd, Stirling FK7 7QA during the hours of 9am-4pm Monday to Friday. An electronic copy of the Order can be requested to this email address: planning@stirling.gov.uk.
Representations may be made in writing, stating the ground for any objection to the Order, specifying the particular tree(s) to which the objection relates, and must be received by the planning authority no later than Monday 23rd September 2024.
Objections and representations should be sent to the Chief Planning Officer, Teith House, Kerse Rd, Stirling FK7 7QA or by email to planning@stirling.gov.uk.
