Rye Harbour and Camber Sands - Changes to Public Access
What is planned?
Changes to public access at the coast
between Rye Harbour and Camber Sands
A call for representations and objections
Natural England has been asked by the government to establish a continuous walking route around England’s coastline. As part of this programme to create
the King Charles III England Coast Path and Coastal Margin, our report describing proposed changes to public access between Rye Harbour and Camber
Sands is published on 31 July 2024. This report has been drawn up in partnership with East Sussex County Council.
Representations and objections on the proposed changes can now be made and must be received by Natural England no later than midnight on 25
September 2024 in accordance with Regulation 4 of the Consideration and Modification Procedure (England) Regulations 2010.
The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs will then make a decision about the report when all representations and objections have been
considered.
Establishment of the new access arrangements will not begin until that decision is made.
How to make a representation or objection:
Representations can be made by any person, while objections can only be made by owners and occupiers of affected land. All representations and objections
must be made on the correct forms supplied by Natural England. The report and forms are available from the gov.uk website at:
