What is planned?

Portsmouth Local Plan 2020-2040

Regulation 19 Pre-Submission

Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012

The Portsmouth Local Plan is the new statutory development plan for Portsmouth and it will guide development in the City up to 2040. It has reached Pre-Submission stage and in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended), it will be published for public consultation for an eight week period.

Portsmouth City Council hereby gives notice that the Portsmouth Local Plan and proposed submission documents (Policies Map, Sustainability Appraisal, Habitat Regulations Assessment and Consultation Statement) are available for inspection at the places and times detailed below. Any person may make representations on whether the Local Plan is legally compliant, complies with the Duty to Cooperate and meets the tests of soundness. Representations must be submitted during the following period:

09 July 2024 to 23.59pm on 03 September 2024.

The quickest and easiest way to input into the consultation is to access the online form at www.portsmouth.gov.uk/localplan.

Alternatively, you can send your comments by email to policyconsultations@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or write to the Council at Planning Policy, Portsmouth City Council, Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, Portsmouth PO1 2AU.

Or you can fill out a paper comment form from the Civic Offices or a deposit point (Central, Cosham, Carnegie and Southsea Libraries) and return it to the council at the above address.

Anonymous or confidential representations without a name and postal address cannot be accepted.

There will be two consultation events when you can view the documents and talk to Council officers about the Local Plan:
Saturday 13 July 10 am to 1 pm at Cosham Library, Spur Road, Cosham, Portsmouth PO6 3EB
Tuesday 16 July 12 am to 3 pm at the Central Library Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth PO1 2DX
