What is planned?
THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BRENT
NOTICE OF EXTENSIONS TO THE BRONDESBURY, HARLESDEN, MAPESBURY, QUEEN'S PARK AND WILLESDEN GREEN CONSERVATION AREAS AND A NEW KENSAL RISE CONSERVATION AREA PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990, SECTIONS 69, 70 AND 71
NOTICE IS GIVEN under the provisions of the 1990 Act, that the London Borough of Brent, on 28 May 2024, following public consultation, has determined on 28 May 2024, to designate extensions to the boundaries of the Brondesbury, Harlesden, Mapesbury, Queen's Park and Willesden Green Conservation Areas. It has also determined to designate a new conservation area in and called Kensal Rise.
SCHEDULE
The amendment made to the boundary of the Conservation Areas is as follows: Brondesbury Conservation Area is extended along Cavendish Road and Chatsworth Road. Harlesden Conservation Area is extended along Craven Park Road, Manor Park Road and Park Parade. Mapesbury Conservation Area is extended along Chichele Road, Sheldon Road, Sylvan Grove and Cricklewood Broadway. Queen's Park Conservation Area is extended along Salusbury Road, Winchester Road, Chevening Road and Lonsdale Road. It also now includes parts of Victoria and Honiton Road (formerly designated in the Kilburn Conservation Area). Willesden Green Conservation Area is extended along Brondesbury Park, Rutland Park Mansions, Chatsworth Road and Dean Road. The new conservation area is as follows: Kensal Rise Conservation Area is designated and includes, Chamberlayne Road, Station Terrace, Clifford Gardens, College Road and Okehampton Road. The principal effects of being included within a conservation area are as follows:
1. The Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area.
2. Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any building in the area.
3. Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area.
4. In carrying out any functions under the planning Acts (and, in particular, in determining applications for planning permission), the Council is required to take into account the desirability of preserving and enhancing the character or appearance of the area.
5. Six weeks' notice must be given to the Council before works are carried out to any tree in the area.
