Notice is hereby given that a revised Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) was adopted by Newark & Sherwood District Council on 4th June 2024 and replaces the SCI adopted in 2015. The SCI sets out the principles and practices that the District Council will use in the development of planning policy and the consideration of planning applications. The Draft SCI was put out for consultation from 8th April 2024 until 20th May 2024. Comments on the SCI and the District Council’s responses to these are available to view in the Statement of Consultation.

The adopted SCI has been modified in accordance with Section 23 (1) of Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. These changes are set out in the Consultation Statement which is available to view on the Council’s website.
In accordance with Regulation 11 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, any person with sufficient interest in the decision to adopt the SCI may make an application to the High Court for permission to apply for judicial review of the decision. Any such application must be made promptly in any event no later than 3 months after the date on which the SPD was adopted.

Copies of the adopted SCI along with this Adoption Statement, and the Statement of Consultation are available for public inspection free of charge at Newark & Sherwood District Council Offices at Castle House (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm), at libraries throughout the District, and on the Council’s website: Statement of Community Involvement – Newark & Sherwood District Council (newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk) For more details about local libraries, including their opening hours, please see:
