RULE 13(6) OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING (EXAMINATION PROCEDURE) RULES 2010
NOTICE OF HEARINGS RELATING TO THE PROPOSED EAST YORKSHIRE SOLAR FARM
DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER
PLANNING INSPECTORATE REFERENCE: EN010143
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, at the dates, times, and places set out below, a Compulsory Acquisition Hearing, an Open Floor Hearing and
an Issue Specific Hearing will be held by the Examining Authority (appointed by the Secretary of State) for the examination of the application made by East Yorkshire Solar Farm Limited (company number 14103404) of Unit 5E, Park Farm, Arundel, BN18 0AG (“the Applicant”) for a Development Consent Order (“DCO”) under section 37 of the Planning Act 2008 (“the Application”).
The Application was made by the Applicant on 21 November 2023 and accepted by the Planning Inspectorate on behalf of the Secretary of
State for examination on 19 December 2023.
East Yorkshire Solar Farm
East Yorkshire Solar Farm (“the Scheme”) comprises the construction and operation (including maintenance) and decommissioning of a solar
farm consisting of ground mounted photovoltaic (PV) arrays which will generate more than 50 megawatts (MW) of electricity, together with
underground cabling, onsite substations, landscaping and biodiversity enhancement, and grid connection infrastructure connecting to the
National Grid Drax Substation.
The Scheme is located on land close to the hamlets and villages of Gribthorpe, Spaldington, Brind, Willitoft, Wressle, Newsholme, Brackenholme, Barmby on the Marsh, and Long Drax within the administrative areas of East Riding of Yorkshire Council and North Yorkshire Council. A map showing the location of the Scheme can be viewed on the Planning Inspectorate’s project webpage for the Scheme at the following link:

Location%20Plan.pdf
Development consent is required to the extent that development is or forms part of a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP)
pursuant to sections 14(1)(a), 15(1), and 15(2) of the Planning Act 2008, as an onshore generating station located in England with a capacity
exceeding 50 MW. It is for this reason that the Scheme falls within the remit of the Secretary of State’s decision-making powers.
The DCO, if granted, would authorise the compulsory acquisition of land, interests in land and rights over land, and the powers to use land
permanently and temporarily. The DCO would also authorise alterations to the layout of streets, the construction of accesses to the Scheme, the
temporary stopping up or management of the public rights of way, street works, removal of hedgerows, and the application and disapplication of legislation.
