A2 TRUNK ROAD (PATRIXBOURNE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A2 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order would be to:-

1. authorise the full weekend closure of the slip road leading from the coastbound carriageway of the A2 at New Dover Road Interchange (A2050/Bifrons Hill); and
2. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed restriction on the coastbound carriageway of the A2 between points 1220 metres west of and 625 metres east of the
centreline of the A2050 overbridge at New Dover Road Interchange (A2050).

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge works and all associated works.

It is expected that the work would last for approximately 2 weeks starting on or after Friday 12th July 2024. The weekend closure would take place between 20:00 hours on Fridays and 06:00 hours on Mondays (maximum period). Please check National Highways website for further details.

The Order would come into force on 10th July 2024 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the A2 to Bishopsbourne Interchange, Coldharbour Lane, Bridge Hill and High Street.
The temporary speed limit, closure and diversion route would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
