CITY OF DONCASTER COUNCIL
The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England)
Order 2015 (as amended)

Notice of proposal to remove Article 4 Direction at Doncaster Sheffield Airport
In 2023, the City of Doncaster Council (“the Council”) made an Article 4(1) Direction
under Article 4(1) of The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted
Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended) (“the GPDO”). The immediate
Article 4 Direction came into effect on 5th June 2023 and was confirmed on 29th
September 2023 and removed Permitted Development Rights relating to the
demolition of buildings at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, granted under Class B Part 11
of Schedule 2 to the GPDO. The effect of the Direction is that planning permission is
currently required for the demolition of any building(s) within the specified area.
The City of Doncaster Council are now proposing to remove this Article 4 Direction,
following the signing of the lease for the airport by the Council. Should this be
removed, the permitted development right to demolish buildings at the airport (Class
B Part 11 of Schedule 2 to the GPDO) would be re-instated, and permitted
development rights would apply again.
Information including a map defining the area covered can be viewed during normal
office hours at: Doncaster Council, Civic Office, Waterdale, Doncaster, DN1 3BU and
on the Council’s website at:
https://www.doncaster.gov.uk/services/planning/article-4-direction-doncastersheffield-airport
Representations may be made concerning the removal of the Article 4 Direction
between 9 May and 31 May 2024. If you wish to make representations you may do
so by email to local.plan@doncaster.gov.uk or by post to: Planning Policy and
Environment Team, Civic Office, Waterdale, Doncaster, DN1 3BU. Any
representations must be received by the end of 31 May 2024.
Any comments will be taken into consideration when deciding whether to remove the
Article 4 Direction.
Dated 9 May 2024
