What is planned?

Variation of Conservation Area:
Ravenstone

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 19th March 2024 Milton Keynes City
Council, in exercise of their powers under Sections 69 (1), (2) and (4) and in accordance with Section 70 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, has determined to vary the Ravenstone Conservation Area. The said conservation area will additionally include:
Land, or garden and ancillary buildings north of ‘The Works’ Northend Cottage, North End; garden, open land and ancillary structures on land to the east of Horseshoe Farm; Land or garden and ancillary structures to the south of Home Farm Barn, Bay Lane; the rear gardens or open ground and ancillary buildings to Brook House, Pear Tree Cottage, No. 34, Chestnut Cottage, Westcott House, Meadow Court and 33 Common Lane; the gardens, grounds and ancillary buildings to Ravenstone House, Bay Lane, the garden space to the south of Silver Birches, Bay Lane, the whole of the meadow close and ancillary buildings to the south and west of the Mannings Farm house and buildings, the garden including open land to the south of 16 Common Street.
The following shall be excluded from Ravenstone conservation area;
The open land to the west of John Tythes Barn, North End; Unit 1, north of horseshoe Farm, North End; 1 to 8 The Close, Weston Road, the houses and gardens at 48 and 49 Weston Road, the house, gardens or land and ancillary buildings at Lower Farm and long Barn House, Common Street; land to the north and west of Yew Tree Farm house and barns.
A plan showing the variation of the designation is available on the Local Planning Authority’s website or may be inspected at Civic Offices, 1 Saxon Gate East, Central Milton Keynes, by appointment during normal working hours. Provided that where there is any discrepancy between the above description and the plan, the boundaries marked on the plan will prevail.
A Conservation Area is an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. Within a Conservation Area additional planning considerations are applicable. Additional publicity is given to proposals for development which would affect the character or appearance of the area. Permission must be obtained from the Planning Authority before buildings are demolished. Trees are protected, by the requirement that the Planning Authority be given six weeks notice before lopping or felling is to be carried out.
