What is planned?

LONDON BOROUGH OF SUTTON

TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING (GENERAL PERMITTED DEVELOPMENT) ORDER 2015 AS AMENDED NOTICE OF DIRECTION UNDER ARTICLE 4(1)

Notice is given that on the 22 February 2024 the London Borough of Sutton ("the Council") made a direction under Article 4(1) of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 2015 (as amended) ("the GPDO").

The Direction withdraws the permitted development right granted by Class L(b) in Part 4 of Schedule 2 of the GPDO for development consisting of a change of use of a building and any land in its curtilage from a use falling within Class C3 (dwellinghouses) of the Schedule of the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987 (as amended), to a use falling within Class C4 of that Schedule (houses in multiple occupation) and not being development comprised within any other Class. The effect of the Direction is that once it comes into force permitted development rights for this type of development are withdrawn and that planning permission will therefore be required for the change of use of a building and any land in its curtilage from a use falling within Class C3 (dwellinghouses) of the Schedule of the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987 (as amended) to a use falling within Class C4 (houses in multiple occupation) within the properties to which this Direction relates The Direction relates to the whole of the administrative area of the Council The Direction and a copy of maps defining the areas to which it relates can be seen online at https://www.sutton.gov.Uk/w/article-4-directions or at the Civic Offices St Nicholas Way Sutton SM1 1EA from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday other than national holiday or at all libraries (opening times available online: www.sutton.gov.uk/w/suttonlibraries)

You may make representations concerning the Article 4 Direction between 22 February 2024 and 21 March 2024. Representations must be received by the Council by 5pm on 21 March 2024. Representations can be made by:

Subject to consideration of any representations received the Direction shall come into force on the 22 February 2025
