NOTICE OF INTENTION TO PASS A RESOLUTION ON STREET TRADING AND THE DESIGNATION OF CONSENT STREETS
Notice is hereby given that Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council intends to pass a Resolution under Para 2 Schedule 4 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 (subject to consultation responses) at its meeting of Full Council in July 2024.
The terms of the draft resolution are as follows:
That all streets in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley be designated as consent streets under Paragraph 2 of Schedule 4 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 from 15 September 2024.
That implementation of the Street Trading Policy is on a phased basis starting with all streets in Barnsley Town Centre from 15 September 2024 and then, 6 calendar months later, encompassing all streets in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley.
Once made, the resolution will allow the Metropolitan Borough Council to control street trading in these streets, using powers set out in the 1982 Act.
Representations relating to the proposed resolution may be made in writing to the Council at the address below no later than 11 March 2024.
