What is planned?
Electricity interconnector
Public Consultation
MaresConnect is a proposed 750MW electricity interconnector designed to
link the Irish and Great Britain electricity transmission networks, enabling
electricity transmission in both directions between Ireland and Wales.
In Wales, MaresConnect will include a converter station near the existing Bodelwyddan substation in Denbighshire and underground cabling, which will be routed within the local road network and agricultural land.
The proposal is in the early stages of development, and members of the project team will be available to introduce and discuss plans at local public consultations held in February (see below).
Feedback from the local community and stakeholders will be crucial as development work progresses. The project team will remain available to discuss the project throughout its development.
