LAND NORTH OF OLD GOLF HOUSE, NEWBATTLE, DALKEITH

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN AS FOLLOWS:-

On 18th January 2024 the above Order was made bringing trees on land at Land North of Old Golf House, Newbattle, Dalkeith under the planning control of Midlothian Council as Planning Authority under the above Act and Regulations whereby the Council’s previous written permission is necessary before the trees can be lopped or felled. Certifi ed copies of the order and related map may be examined on the Midlothian Council website https://www.midlothian.gov.uk/downloads/download/749/tree_preservation_orders The Council’s reasons for making the Order are that the trees are of value and suitable for protection through a Tree Preservation Order for the following reasons:

•      For their contribution to the character, amenity and landscape setting of Newbattle Abbey including listed buildings and the associated landscape which is included on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes.

•      For their contribution to the character and amenity of the Newbattle Conservation area

•      For their contribution to the character and amenity of the River South Esk riparian woodland corridor, which is important for its biodiversity value and as a green network connection.

•      For their role providing separation between older buildings on the bank of the River South Esk including Old Golf House and the newer residential properties on Newbattle Abbey Crescent. Any representations in relation to the Order should be made to Midlothian Council in writing and state the grounds of the representations. Representations must be sent by email to the Planning Manager at conservation@midlothian.gov.uk by 29th February 2024.
