Invitation to Prepare Local Place Plans

In accordance with Section 15A of the Town and Country (Scotland) Act 1997, Falkirk Council is inviting communities across the Council area to prepare their own local place plans (LPPs). LPPs are a new approach to local participation in planning, empowering communities to plan the future of their defined area. A key feature of LPPs is that they contain physical proposals for the development and use of land, and the proposals are shown on a map. The plans can only be produced by community bodies which are defined as established community councils, or community groups within the meaning given by Section 19 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.

Community bodies should submit their LPPs to Falkirk Council by the date of Tuesday 1 April 2025 if their intention in preparing one is to inform the preparation of the Falkirk Local Development Plan 3. A brief guide is available at www.falkirk.gov.uk/LPP, providing information on the assistance available from the Council for preparing a LPP.

Please contact ldp@falkirk.gov.uk for enquiries regarding local place plans.
