Holbeam Dam Spillway Improvements
The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to Holbeam Dam, an existing Environment Agency asset site at Holbeam Dam, Littlejoy Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 6NA. The proposed improvement works will involve the following:
• Construction of a stepped concrete spillway
• Construction of a stilling basin at the base of the spillway
• Raising to the western dam crest by 1m
• Reprofiling the eastern crest and downstream shoulder, protecting with an erosion protection system
• Resurfacing of the existing access track
• Modifications to the gate house structure
• Realignment of hydraulic, electric and control ducting. The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an Environmental Statement in respect of them. The works will all take place within the existing footprint of the Holbeam Dam structure and do not require planning permission.
