BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL

Publication of the Basingstoke and Deane Local Plan Scoping Consultation, draft Community Engagement Strategy, Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) Scoping Report and Call for Sites Notice pursuant to the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended) and the Town and Country Planning  (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026 Scoping Consultation The council has launched a consultation asking for input into the first formal stage in preparing the new Local Plan under the new planning system. The Scoping Consultation focuses on the scope of the new plan and how we will engage with the community on it. A draft Community Engagement Strategy has been published for comment as part of the consultation. An IIA Scoping Report has also been published for consultation, to provide an early opportunity to identify the key issues that the Local Plan should consider. Call for Sites The council is inviting developers, landowners or other interested parties to identify sites considered to be suitable for future development through a Call for Sites. The council is welcoming information on sites that are suitable for: •  housing - submissions involving previously developed land and/or small (less than a hectare) and medium sites (one to two and a half hectares) are particularly encouraged • gypsy and traveller pitches • employment uses • renewable energy and delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain • nutrient mitigation in the River Test and Itchen catchments There is no need to re-submit sites that have already been put forward to the council through the Local Plan process.  Sites can be suggested by anyone or any organisation, regardless of whether they are the landowner or have a legal interest in the site. The suitability of all sites will be assessed against relevant planning policies and other considerations.
