The Secretary of State for Transport has directed that the Order made by Kent County Council on the 18 April 2022, and subsequently extended until 18 October 2025, the effect of which was to prohibit all traffic from Public Footpath CW88, has been extended for a further 09 months, until the 18 July 2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier
The path is closed between Public Bridleway CW40 and Public Footpath CW89
An alternative route is available and will be signed for the duration of the closure.

NOTICE OF THE MAKING OF A PUBLIC PATH CREATION AGREEMENT
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 – SECTION 25
THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL
PUBLIC PATH CREATION AGREEMENT
RELATING TO
THE CREATION OF A NEW PUBLIC FOOTPATH HE381 BETWEEEN PUBLIC FOOTPATH HE59 AND BROAD STREET, LYMINGE
The above named Agreement, made on the 11th September 2026 under Section 25 of the Highways Act 1980, has been made by the Kent County Council. The effect of the Agreement is to create a new length of Public Footpath numbered HE381 with a width of 2.0 metres, which commences on Public Footpath HE59 at NGR TR 1630 4026 (Point A on the order plan) and runs in a generally north-easterly and then north-north-easterly direction for approximately 142 metres to NGR TR 1638 4036 (Point B), then in a generally northwesterly and then north-north-westerly direction for approximately 112 metres to its connection with the pavement of Broad Street at NGR TR 1633 4045 (Point C). As shown on the order plan by the bold black dashes between Points A-B-C.

A copy of the Public Path Creation Agreement and accompanying plans have been placed and may be seen free of charge at the Kent County Council, History and Library Centre, James Whatman Way, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1LQ, from 10am-5pm. (Prohibition of Pedestrians) Temporary Order 2026
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 sections 16A – C as inserted by the Road Traffic Regulation (Special Events) Act 1994 section 1.
Kent County Council intends to temporarily close Public Footpath SD235 between Bazes Shaw and its junction with Public Footpath SD237, and to close Public Footpath SD237 between Lambardes and Public Footpath SD321 from 09:00am on Saturday 07 November to 09:00am on Sunday 08 November 2026
The paths will be closed to facilitate the holding of the New Ash Green Guy Fawkes Night
The safe and alternative route is available via the road network of Church Road, Ash Road and North Ash Road.
