SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
(LAYGATE/WESTERN APPROACH AREA, SOUTH SHIELDS) ORDER 2026
South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order will be to:- INTRODUCE No Loading/Unloading At Any Time on Tudor Rd both sides from its junction with Western Approach for 19m in a westerly direction; Victoria Rd both sides from its junction with Western Approach for 15m in an easterly direction; Western Approach east side from its junction with the roundabout situated at the junctions of Laygate, New George St to its junction with Victoria Rd and west side from its junction with the roundabout at the junctions of Laygate, New George St to its junction with Tudor Rd. AMEND No Waiting At Any Time on Tudor Rd both sides from its junction with Western Approach for 19m in a
westerly direction and No Waiting Mon-Sat 8am-6pm on Tudor Rd south side from a point 19m west of its junction with Western Approach in a westerly direction for 219.7m. Full details of these proposals are contained in the draft order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between the hours of 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall at the

If you wish to raise an objection, express east support or make
any other observations about these proposals, you must make them in writing to the Council’s Legal Services Department at the address below or by using the same email address above by 13 October. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
