RAIL CROSSING EXTINGUISHMENT AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026
The above-named Order made on 9 September 2026 under Section 118 of the Highways Act 1980 will extinguish the entire width of that length of Public Footpath numbered CC16, which commences at its connection with Farleigh Road at NGR TR 1529 5939 (point A), and runs south south-east and south-east for 324 metres to its connection with Broad Oak Road at NGR TR 1547 5915 (Point B), as shown between points A-B on the Order plan. The length of Public Footpath CC16 which passes over the railway runs from NGR TR 1535 5925 (point C) to NGR TR 1537 5924 (point D), for a distance of 24 metres.

On 11 September 2026 an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above Order without modifications.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding to the statement for a Footpath, with a width of 1.5 metres, which commences on Chalkpit Lane by Hammill Farm at NGR TR 2909 5546 (Point A) and runs in an east southeasterly direction for 252 metres to NGR TR 2931 5534 (Point B), then continues in an easterly direction for 725 metres to NGR TR 3003 5520 (Point C), then continues in a southeasterly direction for 105 metres to NGR TR 3011 5514 (Point D), then continues in an easterly direction for 249 metres to NGR TR 3036 5512 (Point E), then continues in a southeasterly direction for 234 metres to its connection with Gore Lane at NGR TR 3056 5500 (Point F). As shown on the Order plan between the Points A-B-C-D-E-F.

The above Order was made on 09 September 2026 under section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. If confirmed, it will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a Restricted Byway numbered EE505, which commences on Coombe Lane at NGR TR 2974 5752 (Point A), and travels in a southeasterly direction for 92 metres to its connection with Public Footpath EE196 at NGR TR 2979 5754 (Point B), then continues in an east southeasterly direction for 37 metres to NGR TR 2983 5743 (Point C), where the way terminates. The Restricted Byway will have a width of 3.0 metres between Points A and B, and 2.5 metres between Points B to C. As shown between Points A-B-C on the Order Plan. Also the order will add another length of Restricted Byway numbered EE505, with a width of 3.0 metres, which commences at NGR TR 2995 5728 (Point D), and travels in a south easterly direction for 58 metres to its connection with Byway Open to All Traffic EE471 at NGR TR 2999 5723 (Point E). As shown between Points D-E on the Order Plan.

The Secretary of State for Transport has directed that the Order made by Kent County Council on the 1 October 2025, and subsequently extended until the 1 October 2026, the effect of which was to prohibit all traffic from Restricted Byway ER19 has been extended for a further 6 months, until the 01 April 2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
The path is closed between Ringwould Road at the pumping station for approximately 200m northwards.
The alternative route is either via Public Footpath ER3, Glen Road, Public Bridleway ER21 and Public Bridleway ER20 or via Glen Road, The Rise and Ringwould Road and will be signed for the duration of the closure.

On 7 September 2026, the Kent County Council confirmed the above Order made under
Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the Order, as confirmed, is to divert:
a)
the entire width of that length of Public Footpath KH68, which commences on an unaffected length of Public Footpath KH68 at NGR TQ 7974 5848 (point A) and runs north and north-east for 110 metres to its connection with another unaffected length of Public Footpath KH68 at NGR TQ 7981 5856 (point B), as shown by a bold continuous line between points A-B on the Order plan; AND
b) the entire width of Public Footpath KH636, which commences at its connection with Public Footpath KH68 at NGR TQ 7994 5859 (point C) and runs east north-east then south-east for 942 metres to its connection with Public Footpath KH113 at NGR TQ 8069 5817 (point D), as shown by a bold continuous line between points C-D on the Order plan.
The effect of the Order, as confirmed, is also to provide:
a) a new length of Public Footpath KH68, with a width of 2.0 metres, which commences at the aforementioned point A and runs north north-east, east north-east and north north-east for 112 metres to the aforementioned point B, as shown by a bold broken line between points A-B on the Order plan; AND
b) a new length of Public Footpath KH636, with a width of 2.0 metres, which commences at a new connection with Public Footpath KH68 at NGR TQ 7994 5858 (point E) and runs east north-east, south-east, east north-east, south-east, south, and east south-east for 1,104 metres to the aforementioned point D, as shown by a bold broken line between points E-D on the Order plan.
