What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (U7538 Whitegates Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Whitegates Lane – from the junction with C539 Turners Green to the junction with U7538 Woods Green.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7538 Woods Green – C272 Osmers Hill – C539 Balaclava Lane, Turners Green and vice versa.
The Order commenced 13 April 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 14 and 15 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C81 Bells Yew Green Road/The Green, Frant) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Bells Yew Green Road/The Green – from the junction with B2169 Bayham Road to the junction with A267 Mayfield Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A267 Frant Green Road, Frant Road – C388 Forest Road (KCC) – B2169 Bayham Road and vice versa.
The Order commenced 23 February 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 14 and 15 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7886 Whitegate Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Whitegate Lane – from the junction with C408 Dewhurst Lane to the junction with U7538 Woods Green.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7538 Whitegates Lane – C539 Three Oaks Lane – B2099 Station Hill – C408 Dewhurst Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 17 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 17 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A267 Frant Road/Frant Green Road, Frant) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Frant Road/Frant Green Road – from the junction with C70 Bunny Lane to the junction with C81 The Green.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C70 Bunny Lane – A26 Eridge Road, Beacon Road, Uckfield Road, Five Ash Down, Mill Pond Road, Uckfield Bypass – A22 Uckfield Bypass, Eastbourne Road, East Hoathly Bypass, South Street, Whitesmith, Holmes Hill, Golden Cross, The Dicker – A267 New North Street, North Street, Eastbourne Road, Horam Road, High Street, Little London Road, Cross in Hand Road, Mayfield Road, Heathfield Road, Mayfield Road, Wellbrook Hill, Wellbrook, Mayfield Bypass, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill, Mayfield Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 25 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 25 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

NOTICE OF MAKING OF AN ORDER
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 THE EAST SUSSEX (Public Bridleway Forest Row 2g (part))
PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026
The above Order was made on 21st August 2026, under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 53a(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The Order will divert part of Public Bridleway Forest Row 2g from TQ 4351 3899 running for 162 metres in a north-easterly direction to TQ 4359 3912 (A-B-C on the Order Map), to a new route having a width of 5.0 metres, running from TQ 4351 3899 running for 144 metres in a generally northerly direction to TQ 4354 3913 then for 50 metres in an easterly direction to TQ 4359 3912 (A-D-E-C on the Order Map).
A copy of the Order and Order Map and an explanatory statement have been deposited and can be inspected free of charge at East Sussex County Council Main Reception, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes, Mondays to Fridays, between 9.00am and 4.00pm and at Wealden District Council’s Offices, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham BN27 2AX, during office opening times.

The Order will divert part of Public Footpath Withyham 57c from TQ 5062 3952, running for 145 metres in a generally southerly direction to TQ 5057 3939 then for 174 metres in southerly direction to TQ 5059 3922 (A-B-C on the Order Map), to a new route having a width of 4.0 metres, running from TQ 5062 3952 for 95 metres in a generally south-westerly direction to TQ 5054 3948 then for 134 metres in a generally southerly then easterly direction to TQ 5057 3939 then for 118 metres in a generally south-easterly direction to TQ 5064 3930 then for 98 metres in a generally south-westerly direction to TQ 5059 3922 (A-D-BE- C on the Order Map).
