NOTICE OF MAKING
(PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING, LOADING, STOPPING AND STREET PARKING PLACES) (VARIOUS ROADS) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2022 – (Amendment No.55) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that on 27 August 2026 Cheshire East Borough Council made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35, 38, 45, 46, 49, 51, 53 and 61, and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and all other enabling powers and in accordance with its duty under Section 122 of the said Act.

1. The effect of the Order, which will come into operation on 2 September 2026, will be to:-
a) Amend the Cheshire East Borough Council (Prohibition and restriction of Waiting, Loading, Stopping and Street Parking Places) (Various Roads) (Consolidation) Order 2022 by introducing the restriction outlined in Schedule 1 and by adding Map Tile No. DQ99, DQ100 & DP100 Rev0 in the Consolidation Order schedules.

2. A copy of the Order; a map showing the restricted areas; a statement of reasons for making the Order, a copy of this public notice and a copy of the public notice of the proposal to make the order are available to view at: bit.ly/2RR0UkD.

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or any requirement of the Act or an instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.

From a point 28m west of the Richard Gibson Road/Reaseheath Way junction, for a length of 31m.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS/ USERS 2026 – Public Footpath No. 21 (Part) Parish of Burland and Acton

Notice is hereby given pursuant to the provisions of Section 14 (1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, that the Cheshire East Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following:

That length of Public Footpath No. 21 (part) in the Parish of Burland and Acton which commences at the junction with Footpath No. 6 at OS grid reference (OSGR) SJ 6125 5189 and runs in a generally north easterly direction for approx. 177 m to the junction with Footpath No. 7 at OSGR SJ 6137 5202. 

The closure is necessary to prevent the risk of danger to the public arising from an emergency leak on the Llangollen Canal near Bridge 10. Investigations will continue, and repairs are required to address the leak and ensure the safety of the canal infrastructure.

The closure continues the restriction that came into force on 6th August 2026 and will continue in force for a period not exceeding 6 months, or until the works required on or adjacent to the footpath are completed. An alternative route is available on site.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS
PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 1 (PART) PARISH OF BURLAND AND PUBLIC FOOTPATH –
No.16 Parish of Sound
Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by sub-section 15 (5) of the aforementioned Section 15 has approved the Order being extended and continuing in force until 3rd September 2028. The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following:

That length of Public Footpath No. 1 in the Parish of Burland (now known as Burland and Acton) which commences at OS grid reference (OSGR) SJ 6224 5033 and runs in a generally westerly then southerly direction for approx. 125m to OSGR SJ 6219 5025.

That length of Public Footpath No. 16 in the Parish of Sound which commences at its junction with Public Footpath No. 1 in the Parish of Burland at OS grid reference (OSGR) SJ 6219 5025 and runs in a generally south direction for approx. 135m to OSGR SJ 6218 3501.

The closure is necessary to protect the public from danger due to unstable ground and whilst options are explored to rectify this.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS – Public Footpath No. 5 Town of Crewe

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by sub-section 15 (5) of the aforementioned Section 15 has approved the Order being extended and continuing in force until 11th March 2027. The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following:

That length of Public Footpath No. 5 Town of Crewe which commences at OS grid reference (OSGR) SJ 7232 5646 and runs in a generally northwest direction for approx. 86m to OSGR SJ 7224 5649.

The closure is necessary to protect the public from danger while site clearance and associated building works are undertaken.

An alternative route is available on site.
