NOTICE OF MAKING

CHATHAM WATERSIDE BUS STATION IMPROVEMENTS

THE MEDWAY COUNCIL (CHATHAM WATERSIDE BUS STATION) (VARIOUS RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

NO. 781

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council, acting as the local traffic authority and in exercise of its powers under sections 1, 2 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), as amended, and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the act, made the above mentioned order on 6 August 2026.

The general effect of the order will be to:

(a) introduce one-way working (north-eastbound) in the carriageway on the south-east side of the central platform island in Globe Lane (“the south-eastern arm”); and

(b) prohibit northbound vehicles proceeding in the north-western arm of Globe Lane from turning right into the south-eastern arm of Globe Lane; and

(c) prohibit southbound vehicles proceeding in Globe Lane from turning left into the southeastern arm of Globe Lane.

The order will come into force on 17 August 2026. A copy of the order and of other documents giving more detailed particulars of the order can be requested by sending an email to traffic.management@medway.gov.uk or by writing to Traffic Management Team, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, ME4 4TR before the end of a period of six weeks from the date on which the order was made.

Any person desiring to question the validity of the order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the order may, within six weeks of the date on which the order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.

Medway Council as Local Planning Authority has received the following applications which are being advertised to ascertain the views of persons living near the sites and other interested parties. The proposed developments relate to one or more of the following:

PUBLIC FOOTPATH RS328, CLIFFE

(TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary footpath closure to enapble culvert repair works to be carried out -

Public Footpath RS328, Cliffe - to be closed between 200 metres south-westwards of Lower Hope Point.

This order will come into force on Monday, 24 August 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within three weeks. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

MARITIME WAY, CHATHAM

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to facilitate bridge waterproofing and resurfacing -

Maritime Way, Chatham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic between the northern side of Maritime Way bridge and and the southern side thereof. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. Access to and from St Mary’s Island will be via the lifting bridge at MDL Chatham Maritime Marina at Leviathan Way.

This order will come into force on Monday, 24 August 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within five days. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

LOWER RAINHAM ROAD, GILLINGHAM

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable noisy manhole frame and cover repairs to be carried out -

Lower Rainham Road, Gillingham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic from the junction with Gadds Hill and Yokosuka Way to the junction with Station Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Yokosuka Way, High Street and Station Road in both directions.

This order will come into force on Saturday, 5 September 2026 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to be carried out on 5 September 2026 and are programmed for completion within one day. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

KING STREET, CHATHAM

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable resurfacing works on The Brook to be carried out -

King Street, Chatham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic at the junction of King Street with The Brook. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Northbound: Whiffens Avenue, Rope Walk, King Street. Southbound: Slicketts High, Cross Street, King Street.

This order will come into force on Wednesday, 12 August 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within 50 days. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable water supply repairs to be carried out -

Chestnut Avenue, Chatham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic at the junction with Walderslade Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Walderslade Road, Gorse Avenue and Yarrow Road in both directions.

This order will come into force on Monday, 24 August 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within five days. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

BRYANT ROAD, STROOD

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable the exchange of a flow meter measuring unit to be carried out -

Bryant Road, Strood - to be closed to all vehicular traffic at its junction with Weston Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Weston Road, Central Road and Brompton Lane in both directions.

This order will come into force on Thursday, 10 September 2026 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Thursday, 10 September 2026 and are programmed for completion within one day. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.
