Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers that length of Public Footpath LIA/33/10 which extends from a point 200m north of public footpath LIA/34/10 northwards for 30m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon crossing upgrade works. 

The order became operative from 17 August 2026 for a maximum period of six months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 weeks duration.

(Beach Lane, Bitton) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Beach Lane which extends from Beachcroft Lane north westwards for 235m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon electricity pole replacement works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order became operative from 18 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 days duration, between 9am and 5pm. 

Alternative route: Beach Lane (parts unaffected), Wick Lane, Marshfield Lane and vice versa.

(Temporary Suspension of Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has suspended, temporarily, the South Gloucestershire Council (Various Roads, Parkway Station Area, Stoke Gifford) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Protection of School Entrances – No Stopping) (Variation) Order 2016 in so far as it relates to the No Waiting at Any Time specified in the Schedule to this notice. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with resurfacing works. 

The order became operative from 17 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The restrictions however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 week duration, between 8pm and 6am.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with new gas connection works. 

The order became operative from 17 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration. 

Alternative route: Sheepfair Lane, High Street and vice versa.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of New Road which extends from a point 40m south east of Swallows Court southwards for 30m (to junction with the bus gate). 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new crossing facilities works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order became operative from 17 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 week duration, between 8pm and 6am.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with high friction surfacing works. 

The order will be operative from 7 September 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 week duration, between 8pm and 6am.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Freezing Hill Lane which extends from Bath Road to Hall Lane. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with tree works. 

The order will be operative from 7 September 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration.

Alternative route: Freezing Hill Lane (parts unaffected), London Road, Bath Road and vice versa.

(Electric Scooter Trial) 
Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, The Electric Scooter Trials and Traffic Signs (Coronavirus) Regulations and General Directions 2020, and pursuant to the Order made by the Department for Transport, under s44 and s63(5) of the Road Traffic Act 1988, intends to make an order the effect of which will enable electric scooters (as defined in The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016) being used in a trial, to use any road or length of road in South Gloucestershire which is currently used by pedal cycles. 

This applies only to electric scooters hired from a company authorised and in accordance with the regulations made by the Department for Transport. 

South Gloucestershire Council is satisfied that electric scooters being used in the trial in the said roads should be permitted in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public to facilitate the continued extension of the Department for Transport electric scooter trial. 

The justification for the order is as follows: (1) to reduce ambiguity as to where the aforementioned electric scooters can be ridden, and (2) to allow the aforementioned electric scooters to be ridden in suitable areas of the highway. 

The order will be operative from 7 September 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months.

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to:- 

a) close, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles and equestrians the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 to this notice; and 

b) close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 2 to this notice. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon Reclamite works. 

The order will be operative from 12 September 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works. 

It is anticipated that the works at each location will be carried out between the hours specified in column 2 on the dates specified in column 3 of the said Schedules. See Schedule 3 for alternative routes.

Construction of Road Humps – A38 Gloucester Road,

Details of the proposed changes
NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in exercise of the powers conferred by section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 (hereinafter called ‘the Act’) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with section 90C(1) of the Act and those bodies or persons prescribed by the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 (hereinafter called ‘the Regulations’) and in accordance with section 90C(2) of the Act intends to construct road humps in the form of flat top tables at the locations specified in the Schedule to this Notice. 

The road humps specified in Part 1 of the said Schedule will be 3.7m in length; the road hump in Part 2 will be 8.8m in length and the road hump in Part 3 will be 11m in length. 

The humps will extend over the full width of the carriageway and will be 75mm in maximum height, subject to the tolerances permitted in the Regulations. All distances and measurements are approximate and subject to construction tolerance.

Construction of Road Humps – North Street, Downend

Details of the proposed changes
NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in exercise of the powers conferred by section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 (hereinafter called ‘the Act’) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with section 90C(1) of the Act and those bodies or persons prescribed by the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 (hereinafter called ‘the Regulations’) and in accordance with section 90C(2) of the Act intends to construct road humps in the form of a speed table at the location specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Notice and in the form of speed cushions at the locations specified in Part II of the said Schedule. The speed table in Part I of the Schedule to this Notice will be 8 metres in length and will extend across the full width of the carriageway. 

The speed cushions in Part II of the said Schedule will be in pairs. All speed cushions will extend across the width of the carriageway and be 1.9 metres in length. 

All road humps will be 75 millimetres in maximum height, subject to the tolerances permitted in the Regulations. All distances and measurements are approximate and subject to construction tolerance.

(Footpath LIA 21 Dyers Lane Iron Acton) Public Path Stopping Up and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2026 On the 29 July 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council confirmed the above order. 

The effect of the order will be to stop-up that length of public footpath LIA 21 in the Parish of Iron Acton in the Unitary District of South Gloucestershire from its junction with Dyers Lane east of Pinewood Cottage, Point A on the

order plan (grid reference ST 6945 8335), running in a north-easterly direction for a distance of 84m to the corner of the field boundary south of Rose Cottage at Point B (grid reference ST 6952 8339), then continuing in a south-easterly direction across the next field and then across Iron Acton Way and partially into industrial premises for a distance of 180m to Point C (grid reference ST 6968 8330). Shown by a bold black line marked A – B – C on the order map – To a new line from its junction with Dyers Lane south east of Apple Tree Cottage, Point D on the order plan (grid reference ST 6948 8336), running in a south-south-easterly direction for a distance of 14m along a laid-out path to the estate road and crossing it, before turning north-east on the estate road footway for a distance of 39m and then turning to a south-south-easterly direction for a distance of 49m to Point E (grid reference ST 6956 8334). Here it leaves the estate road and follows a laid-out path in a south-south-easterly direction, skirting a balancing pond, before turning in a west-south-westerly direction for a distance of 57m to Point F (grid reference ST 6956 8330) where it terminates on the Iron Acton Way.
