NOTICE OF MAKING

LOWER RAINHAM ROAD AREA, RAINHAM, GILLINGHAM

(20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council on 16 July 2026 made the above-mentioned Order under section 84 of, and Part III of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. The general effect of the Order will be to:

1. Extend the 20 miles per hour speed limit by 105 metres:

(a) Berengrave Lane, from its junction with Lower Rainham Road (B2004), for a distance of 301 metres in a southerly direction.

The Order will come into force on 3 August 2026. Copies of the Order and of other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order can be requested by sending an email to traffic.management@medway.gov.uk or by writing to Traffic Management Team, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR before the end of a period of six weeks from the date on which the Order was made.

Persons wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of their provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.

(INSTITUTE ROAD, CHATHAM)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable excavation of a joint bay and trench to be carried out -

Institute Road, Chatham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of 7 Institute Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. No alternative vehicular route is available. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.

This Order will come into force on Monday, 3 August 2026 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 3 August 2026 and are programmed for completion within 5 days. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

(WOULDHAM ROAD, BORSTAL)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable excavation for high voltage cable installation -

Wouldham Road, Borstal - to be closed to all vehicular traffic in Wouldham Road from its junction with Borstal Court to its junction with Manor Lane. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Borstal Street, Priestfield, Maidstone Road, East Row, Victoria Street, Corporation Street, Rochester Bridge, High Street, Commercial Road, Knight Road, Priory Road, Cuxton Road, Sundridge Hill, Rochester Road, Formby Road, Halling Bypass, Peters Bridge Road, Hall Road, High Street and Wouldham Road in both directions. This Order will come into force on Monday, 27 July 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within 5 weeks. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

(RATCLIFFE HIGHWAY, ST MARY HOO)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable telephone pole testing to be carried out -

Ratcliffe Highway, St Mary Hoo - to be closed to all vehicular traffic between the junction with Coombe Farm Lane and the junction with Cuckold Green Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Fenn Street, Fenn Corner Roundabout, A228 Malmaynes Hall Road, A228 Grain Road, Grain Road, High Street, Allhallows Road and Stoke Road in both directions.

This Order will come into force on Thursday, 30 July 2026 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Thursday, 30 July 2026 and are programmed for completion within 1 day. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

(YORK AVENUE, GILLINGHAM)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable carriageway resurfacing and associated works to be carried out -

York Avenue, Gillingham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic in York Avenue Gillingham, between its junctions with Marlborough Road and Windmill Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Marlborough Road, High Street, Jeffery Street, Canterbury Street, Rock Avenue, Montgomery Road and Windmill Road in both directions.

This Order will come into force on Thursday, 13 August 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within 2 days. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable access for engineers to work on an underground structure to provide service to a customer -

Reed Street, Cliffe - to be closed to all vehicular traffic between its junction with North Road and its junction with Pond Hill. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Thatchers Lane, Swingate Avenue and Church Street in both directions.

This Order will come into force on Thursday, 13 August 2026 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Thursday, 13 August 2026 and are programmed for completion within 1 day. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH RS328, CLIFFE)

(TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary footpath closure to enable maintenance works to be carried out -

Public Footpath RS328, Cliffe - to be closed between 200 metres and 300 metres southwestward of Lower Hope Point.

This Order will come into force on Monday, 24 August 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within 3 weeks. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

(RAINHAM NORTH) (WAITING RESTRICTIONS) (AMENDMENT NO.22) ORDER 2026

(RAINHAM SOUTH) (WAITING RESTRICTIONS) (AMENDMENT NO.11) ORDER 2026

NOTICE OF PROPOSAL

Bendon Way, Cheriton Rd, Deanwood Drive, Hawbeck Rd, Henry Street, Hoath Lane, Long Catlis Rd, Queendown Avenue, Stratford Avenue, Swain Rd, Wakeley Rd, Wivenhoe Close

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council proposes to make the above-mentioned Orders under sections 1, 2, 32, 35, 37, 45, 46 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. The general effect of the Amendment Orders will be to introduce or amend lengths of double yellow lines (“No waiting”), unless otherwise stated, in the affected roads as detailed below (m= metres):

1) Bendon Way – East side, 15.8m northwards and 17.4m southwards from Stratford Avenue;

2) Cheriton Rd – North-west side, 6.3m north-eastwards and 6m south-westwards from Stratford Ave;

3) Deanwood Drive – (a) North side, a 17.5m extension eastwards from Maidstone Road, (b) South side, a 16m extension eastwards from Maidstone Road up to the bus stop clearway;

4) Hawbeck Road – South-west side, a 10m extension north-westwards from Deanwood Drive, opposite Nos.99-101;

5) Henry Street – South-west side, change the parking bay operation alongside Nos.202-204 Station Road from 30 mins’ limited waiting Mon-Sat to Permit holders only (W) Mon-Fri 8-10am;

6) Hoath Lane – (a) South-west side, 20m o/s No.12 to join up existing restrictions outside Nos.10 &14;

7) Long Catlis Road – (a) North-west side, an 11.2m length north-eastwards from Queendown Ave, (b) West side, 11.2m southwards from Queendown Ave;

8) Queendown Avenue – Both sides, 11.5m lengths westwards from Long Catlis Road;

9) Stratford Avenue – (a) North side, 5.1m eastwards from Bendon Way (b) South side, 19.4m eastwards from Bendon Way, (c) North-east side, 20.9m north-westwards from Cheriton Rd, (d) South-west side, 6.6m north-westwards from Cheriton Rd;

10) Swain Road – North side, a 46m extension outside Nos.1a - 5, between Hoath Lane and The Wheelers;

11) Wakeley Road – (a) South-west side, 10.2m on the corner by No.242, (b) North-west side, 8.4m on the corner by No.193, (c) North-east side, 7.7m on the corner at the rear of No.121 Otterham Quay Lane, (d) South-east side, 7.3m on the corner at the rear of No.119 Otterham Quay Lane;

12) Wivenhoe Close – (a) North-west, south-west and north-east sides, a 26.8m length from outside No.8, across the rear of Nos.368-370 Station Rd and outside No.9, (b) South-east, a 6.7m on the corner to the front of No.7.

Copies of the Orders, plans and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals can be viewed at the front reception, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive except for public holidays. Electronic copies of these documents can be requested by email to TROconsult@medway.gov.uk on the understanding that requests may take up to 5 working days to be processed and copies sent.

Any objections or other representations about the proposed Order should be sent in writing by email to TROconsult@medway.gov.uk or by post to “Parking Design team” at the address specified in the paragraph below by Friday, 14 August 2026 stating name, address and the grounds for objection or support.
