Barrack Lane - Surface Water Outfall Capacity Restoration
What is happening?
MARINE AND COASTAL ACCESS ACT 2009
APPLICATION FOR MLA/2026/00216 – Barrack Lane - Surface Water Outfall capacity restoration by dualling outfall.
Invitation to make written representations.
Notice is hereby given that Southern Water Limited has applied to the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, Part 4, for a marine licence. Southern Water plan to dual the surface water outfall pipe at Barrack Lane, Aldwick as beach protection measures have led to the existing surface water outfall being buried in the foreshore causing to its hydraulic capacity being reduced. Providing a second outfall with gabion baskets at its end (pipe and gabions all buried below current beach level) hydraulic capacity to discharge surface water will be restored, significantly reducing the risk of inland flooding.
