NOTICE OF MAKING
Ambley Rd, Brenchley Rd, Church St, Eastcourt Lane, Elmfield, Featherby Rd, Gardiner St, Grange Rd, Green St, Harold Ave, Milton Rd, Napier Rd, Owens Way, Rotary Gdns, Rowland Ave, Rowland Cl, Sturdee Ave, Windmill Rd
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council on 7 July 2026 made the above-mentioned Order under sections 1, 2, 45, 46, 53 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
The general effect of the amendment Order, which comes into operation on 13 July 2026, will be to introduce or amend lengths of waiting restrictions and parking places, within Gillingham as detailed below (m = metres):
1) Ambley Road – (a) West side, (i) 31m northwards from Saracen Close, (ii) 26.6m southwards from Saracen Close;
(b) East side, (i) 24.4m southwards from Chieftain Close, (ii) 15.3m northwards from Chieftain Cl;
2) Brenchley Road – (a) North side, 7.3m eastwards from Eastcourt Lane, (b) South side, 6.5m eastwards from Eastcourt Lane;
3) Church Street – (a) West side, (i) 20.5m northwards from Forge Lane outside Nos.67, 69 & 75 Church Street, (ii) a 4.5m extension southwards from St Albans Close, (iii) 30.2m northwards from St Albans Close, (b) East side, 21.1m northwards from Christmas Street;
4) Eastcourt Lane – (a) West side, (i) 5.1m southwards from Elmfield, (ii) 12.2m northwards from Elmfield, (b) East side, (i) 7.2m northwards from Brenchley Road, (ii) 8.3m southwards from Brenchley Road;
5) Elmfield – (a) North-east side, 4.3m south-eastwards from Featherby Rd, (b) South side, 9m eastwards from Featherby Road, (c) North side, 5.3m westwards from Eastcourt Lane, (d) South-west side, 10.1m north-westwards from Eastcourt Lane;
6) Featherby Road – East side, (a) 10.8m northwards from Elmfield, (b) 8.6m southwards from Elmfield;
7) Gardiner Street – South-east side, remove the 6.3m single yellow line and join up the parking bay in front of the dropped kerb by No.29 (garage access is now residential flats);
8) Grange Road – (a) North side, 12m extension westwards from Court Lodge Road, (b) South side, (i) from the east side of No.124 eastwards for 10.6m, (ii) from No.140a, opposite the west side of Court Lodge Road, westwards for 10.6m;
9) Green Street – South-west side, remove 5m lengths of double yellow lines outside No.6 and No.38, and replace with permit parking bay;
10) Harold Avenue – Change single yellow line to double yellow lines north-eastwards from Sturdee Ave, (a) extending to 9.1m on the north-west side to No.1, and (b) extending to 8.5m on the south-east side to No.19 Sturdee Ave;
11) Milton Road – North-east side, remove 6.9m of the permit parking bay in front of the dropped kerb by No.56;
12) Napier Road – North-west side, a 7.6m length in front of the access road between Nos.138 &144;
13) Owens Way – Both sides, a 12m extension north-eastwards past Steelfields’ entrance after the bend;
14) Rotary Gardens – (a) South-east side, a 5m length north-eastwards from the parking area at the rear of Nos.1-13, (b) North-west side, a 5m length north-eastwards from the parking area at the rear of Nos.12-24,;
15) Rowland Avenue – (a) South-east side, a 32.6m length on the bend by No.25, (b) North-west side, a 22.9m length on the bend by No.1 Rowland Close;
16) Rowland Close – North-west side, 12.5m south-westwards from Rowland Avenue outside No.1;
17) Sturdee Avenue – Change the single yellow line to double yellow lines at the Harold Ave junction, (a) North-east side, (i) the 10.8m length north-westwards towards No.17, (ii) the 7.2m length south-eastwards towards No.21, (b) South-west side, the 21.4m length outside No.2;
18) Windmill Road – South-east side, remove 4m of the double yellow lines outside Windmill Manor and extend the permit parking bay;
Copies of the Order and associated documents can be requested by sending an email to parkingdesign@medway.gov.uk or by writing to Parking Design team, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR before the end of a period of six weeks from the date on which the Order was made.
Persons wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.

(WOULDHAM ROAD, BORSTAL)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable excavation for high voltage cable installation -
Wouldham Road, Borstal - to be closed to all vehicular traffic in Wouldham Road from its junction with Borstal Court to its junction with Manor Lane. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected.
An alternative route will be available via Borstal Street, Priestfield, Maidstone Road, East Row, Victoria Street, Corporation Street, Rochester Bridge, High Street, Commercial Road, Knight Road, Priory Road, Cuxton Road, Sundridge Hill, Rochester Road, Formby Road, Halling Bypass, Peters Bridge Road, Hall Road, High Street and Wouldham Road in both directions.
This Order will come into force on Monday, 27 July 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within 5 weeks. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

(THE STREET, STOKE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions on traffic to enable a new water connection to be carried out -
The Street, Stoke - to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of Court Lodge Barn. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Malmaynes Hall Road, Fenn Street, Sharnal Street Bypass, Ropers Lane and Stoke Road in both directions.
This Order will come into force on Monday, 10 August 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner.
The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within 3 days. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable heavy jetting works to be carried out -
Hoo Road, Rochester - to be closed to all vehicular traffic between its junctions with Gambit Way and Wainscott Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via A289 and B2000 in both directions.

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable electricity service installation works to be carried out -

RICHMOND ROAD, GILLINGHAM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable carriageway resurfacing and associated works to be carried out -
Richmond Road, Gillingham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic for the entire length, and in the following roads for 50 metres from their junctions with Richmond Road - Milburn Rd; Clifton Rd; Chatsworth Rd; Cornwall Rd and Devonshire Rd . Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Medway Road, Prince Arthur Road, Brompton Road, High Street, Jeffery Street and James Street in both directions.
This Order will come into force on Monday, 10 August 2026 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 10 August 2026 and are programmed for completion within 5 days. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

The currently - increased height - is a result of the past alteration to the property to accommodate the roof of the infill extension which is now being demolished. None of the chimneys are in use. This amendment is dictated by the safety concerns based on up-close site inspection by the Structural Engineer The works include reduction in height, strengthening, essential repairs and general renovation work including the installation new clay chimney pots to match the style of existing. The new height will be closer to the original - as can be seen on the historic photographs and will match the chimney height of the neighbouring Castle Club. |

GORDON ROAD, GILLINGHAM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable water supply repairs to be carried out -
Gordon Road, Gillingham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic from the junction with Gillingham Road for a distance of 100 metres. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Toronto Road, Livingstone Road, Barnsole Road and Gillingham Road in both directions. To facilitate access/egress by residents the One-Way restrictions in Gordon Road will be suspended.
This Order will come into force on Monday, 10 August 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner.
