What is happening?

(THORNHILL GALA PARADE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) ORDER 2026

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to temporarily close various roads in Thornhill as detailed below on Saturday 11/7/26, 12:00 to 13:00. The closure is necessary to facilitate activities associated with Thornhill Gala Parade. Parade route: from Thornhill Community Centre to East Back St, Drumlanrig St, Cairnkinna Cres, Townhead St, West Morton St, Drumlanrig St, East Back St. No alternative route available, minor delays should be expected for the duration of the event. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

A780 ANNAN ROAD (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER) ORDER 2026

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to temporarily close the A780 Annan Road, Dumfries, between east and west accesses to Millburn Avenue, from 09:00 on 09/07/2026 to 18:00 on 24/07/2026. The closure is necessary to facilitate on-going sewer repair works in association with previous emergency closure due to sink hole. Alternative route available: Annan Road East via - A75TR, Lockerbie Road, St Mary Street, Cornwall Mount and Annan Road & Annan Road West via - Cornwall Mount, St Mary Street, Moffat Road, Edinburgh Road, A75TR, Annan Road. Emergency access will not be available if required. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

The Council hereby give notice under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 of their intention to temporarily close the following roads at the following locations:

The closures are necessary in the interests of road safety to facilitate carriageway micro-surfacing works. The closures are planned to be undertaken during the period of 10th July 2026 to 31st August 2026 and shall have effect only at such times as indicated by appropriate signs. Works will be carried out as part of a rolling closure, with road reopening as works progress.

Emergency Vehicle access will be maintained at all times. Vehicle and pedestrian access to properties within the closed section will be maintained where practicable. Affected properties will be letter dropped appropriately. For more information, Tel – 03033 333 000
