PUBLIC PATH EXTINGUISHMENT AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

On 15 June 2026 The Kent County Council confirmed the above Order under Section 118 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of that Order as confirmed is to extinguish the entire width of that length of Public Footpath numbered AT89A, which commences at its connection with Public Footpath AT245 at NGR TQ 9029 2828 (point A) and runs north, north north-west, and north, then east and north-east for 278 metres to its termination at NGR TQ 9019 2850 (point B), as shown between points A-B on the Order plan.

A copy of the Order and Map as confirmed may be seen free of charge during normal office hours at the Ashford Gateway Plus, Church Road, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1AS or at the Kent County Council, History and Library Centre, James Whatman Way, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1LQ, from 10am-5pm. The Order comes into force on 15 June 2026, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (the Act), as amended, and/or the powers of section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA) or on the ground that any requirement of either Act or of any regulation made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may under Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by Paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, and as applied by s53A(7) WCA, within 6 weeks from the 3 July 2026, make an application to the High Court.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991

Kent County Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to temporarily close Public Footpath AW219 between Mock Lane and Chilmington Green Lane from the 29 July 2026.

The path will be closed for a maximum of six months, although it is expected that it will reopen in September 2026.

The path is closed because works are planned to repair and upgrade the surface of the footpath.

There are no alternative routes available.

THE EBBSFLEET DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
(PUBLIC FOOTPATH DS3 (PART) SWANSCOMBE AND GREENHITHE) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2021 (AS AMENDED BY THE EBBSFLEET DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (PUBLIC FOOTPATH DS3 (PART) SWANSCOMBE AND GREENHITHE) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2021 (VARIATION) ORDER 2023)

Notice is hereby given that, on 17th June 2026, the Kent County Council (on behalf of the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation) certified that the terms of Article 2 of the above-named Order, requiring an alternative highway to be created to the reasonable satisfaction of the Kent County Council (on behalf of the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation), had been complied with.

Accordingly, the above-named Order has now taken effect.

A copy of the Order as confirmed and the Map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at the offices of Dartford Borough Council, Civic Centre, Home Gardens, Dartford, Kent DA1 1DR. The documents can also be obtained by contacting prow@kent.gov.uk.
