PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026
The above-named Order made on 27 May 2026 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 will divert the entire width of that length of Public Footpath numbered CH23 which commences at its junction with the unaffected length of Public Footpath CH23 at NGR TR 1721 6664 (point A) and runs in a northeast, north-northwest and then north-northeast direction for 151 metres to NGR TR 1723 6678 (point B). At this point there is a connection with Public Footpath CH24. The path then continues in an east then northeast direction for 99 metres to its connection with the unaffected length of Public Footpath CH23 at NGR TR 1731 6681 (point C) and the entire width of that length of Public Footpath numbered CH24 which commences at its junction with Public Footpath CH23 at NGR TR 1723 6678 (point B) and runs in a north-northwest direction for 36 metres to its connection with the unaffected length of Public Footpath CH24 at NGR TR 1722 6681 (point D) and will add a new length of Public Footpath numbered CH23 with a width of 2.0 metres which commences at the previously mentioned point A and runs in a northeast then north direction for 154 metres to NGR TR 1721 6678 (point E), the path then continues in an east then east-northeast direction for 102 metres to its connection with the unaffected length of Public Footpath CH23 at the previously mentioned point C and a new length of Public Footpath numbered CH24 with a width of 2.0 metres which commences at NGR TR 1721 6678 (point E) and runs in a north-northeast then north direction for 30 metres to its connection with the unaffected length of Public Footpath CH24 at the previously mentioned point D. All directions are general, all distances are approximate.
A copy of the Order and Map may be seen free of charge during normal office hours at the offices of Canterbury City Council, 14 Rose Lane, Canterbury, Kent, CT21 2UR or at the Kent County Council, History and Library Centre, James Whatman Way, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1LQ, from 10am-5pm. The documents can also be viewed online at www.kent.gov.uk/prownotices or a copy can be obtained by contacting Laura Wilkins (tel: 03000 41 34 80 or email laura.wilkins@kent.gov.uk).
Any representation about or objection to the Order must be sent or delivered in writing to Laura Wilkins at the Kent County Council (address as below; email as above) no later than Monday 27 July 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made.
Please note that objections/representations cannot be treated as confidential and may come into the public domain. Copies of any objections or representations received may be disclosed to interested parties, including the Planning Inspectorate where the case is referred to it for determination.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Kent County Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.

Notice of extension of an Order temporarily closing Public Footpath ER37 in the Parish of St Margaret’s at Cliffe

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991
The Secretary of State for Transport has directed that the Order made by Kent County Council on the 26 June 2021 and subsequently extended until 26 June 2026, the effect of which was to prohibit all traffic from Public Footpath ER37 has been extended for a further 12 months, until the 26 June 2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier
The path is closed between Bay Hill and the Promenade
The alternative route is via Public Footpath ER38 and the England Coast Path and will be signed for the duration of the closure.

Notice of the making of an Order to temporarily close Public Footpath KM217 in the Parish of Marden

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991
Kent County Council has made an Order the effect of which is to temporarily close Public Footpath KM217 between West End and Lucks Way from the 02 July 2026
The path will be closed for a maximum of six months.
The path is closed because excavation works are required to install ducting for electrical cables for use by Marden Primary School.
The alternative route is via Lucks Way, Sovereigns Way, Pattenden Lane and West End and will be signed for the duration of the closure.

Notice of the intention to make an Order to temporarily close Public Footpath SU12 in the Town of Sevenoaks

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991
Kent County Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to temporarily close Public Footpath SU12 for its whole length between its junction with Robyns Way and its junction with London Road from the 22 July 2026
The path will be closed for a maximum of six months, although it is expected that it will reopen on 01 August 2026
The path is closed because works are being carried out to improve the surface and increase the width.
The alternative routes are long and via the pavements and railway bridges at Shoreham Lane and Hitchen Hatch Lane.
