VARIOUS ROADS, ROCHESTER (COMMUNITY EVENTS)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (NO.2) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to facilitate the construction and removal of structures required for the holding of ‘Rochester Castle Live’ event, or because of the likelihood of danger to the public whilst the event is taking place –
Traffic Management - To facilitate the holding of the event mentioned in column (1) of the Table, on the dates and between the times set out in the corresponding columns (2) and (3), the traffic management provisions detailed in the Schedule identified in the corresponding column (4) will apply. These provisions will be in force as indicated in the Schedule below.
Alternative routes for through traffic will be signed locally. Access to premises will be maintained where possible.
This order will come into force on Saturday, 27 June 2026 and will cease to have effect on Friday, 10 July 2026. The order will only be effective when the appropriate signs are
displayed.

Schedule RCL26-1:
Intermittent road closures and traffic restrictions
Castle Hill from its junction with Esplanade to its junction with Epaul Lane, to include Castle Hill Court – to include suspension of one-way operation to allow resident/event vehicle access.
Epaul Lane from its junction with Castle Hill to its junction with Boley Hill – to include suspension of no entry and one-way operation to allow resident/event vehicle access.
Boley Hill from its junction with High Street to its junction with St Margaret’s Street.
The roads above will be closed intermittently throughout these dates to allow for vehicle/plant ingress and/or egress to the Castle Gardens and Castle Moat areas.

Castle Hill from its junction with Esplanade to its junction with Epaul Lane, to include Castle Hill Court– to include suspension of one-way operation to allow resident and event vehicle access.

High Street Rochester from its junction with Corporation Street bus lane to its northwestern junction of Blue Boar Lane - to include suspension of one-way operation and no entry for authorised vehicles only.
Northgate from its junction with Cathedral car park to its junction with High Street.
Esplanade from its junction with High Street to its northern junction with Bakers Walk.
A2 eastbound, prohibited right turn to Esplanade, Rochester.
Corporation Street (Chatham bound) no vehicle is permitted to right turn into Northgate.

Suspension of on-street parking bays as indicated by signs. Suspension of single yellow line restrictions to no parking at any time, as indicated by signs and ‘AT ANY TIME” cones.

Speed Reductions – No person shall cause any vehicle to exceed the speed limit of 20mph on the following roads:
Corporation Street from its junction with Star Hill to its junction with Gundolph Square (Chatham bound and Strood bound) – speed reduced from 30mph to 20mph.
Gas House Road – its entire length (both directions) - speed reduced from 30mph to 20mph.
Corys Road from its junction of Gas House Road to its junction with Common Creek Wharf (both directions) - speed reduced from 30mph to 20mph.

SAXTON STREET, GILLINGHAM
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable electricity service installation works to be carried out -
Saxton Street, Gillingham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of 128A Saxton Street. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Paget Street, Canterbury Street and Lock Street in both directions.
This order will come into force on Monday, 20 July 2026 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 20 July 2026 and are programmed for completion within 5 days. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

LOWER RAINHAM ROAD AREA, GILLINGHAM
(40 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026
NOTICE OF PROPOSALS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council proposes to make the above-mentioned orders the general effect of which would be to:
1. Introduce a speed limit of 30 miles per hour in:
(a) Eastcourt Lane:
(i) From Lower Rainham Road (B2004) to Grange Road, and
(ii) From Grange Road to Beechings Way,
(b) Grange Road, from Lower Twydall Lane to its dead-end west of Lower Featherby Road,
(c) Lower Featherby Road, from Lower Rainham Road (B2004) to a point 25.3 metres southwest of the south-western kerb-line of Grange Road,
(d) Lower Rainham Road (B2004):
(i) From a point 51 metres east of Grange Roundabout to a point 209 metres east of the south-eastern kerb-line of Lower Featherby Road, and
(ii) From a point 104 metres west of the western kerb-line of Sharps Green to a point 195 metres east of the entrance to Riverside Country Park,
(e) Lower Twydall Lane, from Lower Rainham Road (B2004) to its dead-end south-west of Little York Meadows, and
(f) Sharps Green, from Lower Rainham Road (B2004) northwards for 190 metres.
2. Introduce a speed limit of 40 miles per hour in Lower Rainham Road (B2004):
(a) From Grange Roundabout eastwards for 51 metres,
(b) From 209 metres east of the south-eastern kerb-line of Lower Featherby Road to a point 104 metres west of the western kerb-line of Sharps Green, and
(c) From a point 195 metres east of the entrance to Riverside Country Park to a point 70 metres west of Pump Lane.
3. Revoke The Borough of Gillingham (B2004 (Lower Rainham Road) (Part) (40 MPH Speed Limit) order, 1993.
Any objections or other representations to the proposed orders should be sent in writing by email to traffic.management@medway.gov.uk or by post to Traffic Management Team at the address specified in the paragraph below by noon on Friday, 10 July 2026, stating name,
address and grounds for objection or support.
Copies of the proposed orders, the council’s statement of reasons for making the orders, and plans showing its effect, may be inspected at the Chatham Library & Community Hub, Dock Road, Chatham, ME4 4TX during normal office hours on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive (except for bank and public holidays). Alternatively, electronic copies of the documents can be requested by sending an email to traffic.management@medway.gov.uk

HAVEN STREET, WAINSCOTT
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable works to remove and replace a decayed telegraph pole.
Haven Street, Wainscott - to be closed to all vehicular traffic from the entrance to Islingham Farmhouse for a distance of 100 metres north-westwards. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Islingham Farm Road, Bunters Hill and Comon Road.
This order will come into force on Monday, 13 July 2026 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 13 July 2026 and are programmed for completion within two days. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

WALNUT TREE GROVE, HOO ST WERBURGH, ROCHESTER
(20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026
NOTICE OF MAKING
Walnut Tree Grove, Hoo St Werburgh, Rochester
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council on 16 June 2026 made the above-mentioned order under section 84 of, and Part III of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
The general effect of the order is to introduce a speed limit of 20 miles per hour in Walnut Tree Grove, from the junction with Stoke Road, for its entire length (excluding privatelyowned sections).
Copies of the order and of other documents giving more detailed particulars of the order can be requested by sending an email to traffic.management@medway.gov.uk or by writing to Traffic Management Team, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, ME4 4TR before the end of a period of six weeks from the date on which the order was made.
Persons wishing to question the validity of the order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any instrument made under that act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable two decayed telegraph poles to be removed and replaced.
