NOTICE OF HEARING SESSIONS TO BE HELD AS PART OF THE PUBLIC HEARING ELECTRICITY ACT 1989
GLENVERNOCH WIND FARM, LAND AT GLENVERNOCH, NEWTON STEWART, DGB 6RR SECTION 36 APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A WIND FARM COMPRISING OF 13 WIND TURBINES WITH A BLADE TO TIP HEIGHT UP TO 200M, A BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM, AND ASSOCIATED ANCILLARY INFRASTRUCTURE
Scottish Ministers have appointed Mr David Buylla, BA(Hons) MRTPI to consider and submit a report to them on an application under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to install a wind farm comprising of 13 wind turbines with a blade to tip height up to 200m, a battery energy storage system, and associated ancillary infrastructure on Land at Glenvernoch.
The application (which is available to view on the DPEA web site) is subject to environmental impact assessment and is supported by the following environmental information:
• an environmental impact assessment report dated October 2024;
• additional information to address consultee comments relating to peat and groundwater dependent terrestrial ecosystems dated April 2025; and
• additional information on the likely significant effects of the grid connection dated April 2026.
The Reporter will hold a public hearing to obtain more information on certain matters before he reports to Scottish Ministers on the case. The matters to be considered during the oral session of the public hearing are:
• Landscape and Visual Effects
• Policy
• Conditions
A community hearing session will also be held, which will cover any matters of community concern.
No other matters relevant to this case will be considered at the hearing sessions.
The session will take place on 30 June 2026 at 10:00 am within The McMillan Hall, Dashwood Square, Newton Stewart, DGB 6EQ and will run for 3 days.
Members of the public can follow the proceedings through the broadcast to the internet as part of DPEA's webcasting service. The webcast recordings will be available to view at: www.youtube.com/@DPEAScotGov Attendees and/or participants may wish to note that this meeting will be broadcast live to the internet as part of DPEA's webcasting service. Generally the public seating areas will not be directly filmed however by entering the meeting venue and using the public seating area, you are consenting to being filmed and to the use and storage of those images and sound recordings and any information pertaining to you contained in them for webcasting and training purposes and for the purpose of keeping historical records and making those records available to the public.
Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe the sessions.
