The paths will be closed for a maximum of six months, although it is likely an extension will be required.

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF MODIFICATION ORDER

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT FOR THE COUNTY OF KENT

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL
(PUBLIC FOOTPATH WB3 AT TUNBRIDGE WELLS)
DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

On 20 May 2026 the Kent County Council confirmed the above Order without modifications.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by deleting the entire width of that length of Public Footpath numbered WB3 which commences at its junction with the unaffected length of WB3 at NGR TQ 5705 4098 (Point A) and runs in an east direction for 135 metres to its connection with the unaffected length of Public Footpath WB3 at NGR TQ 5719 4097 (Point B). As shown on the Order plan by the purple line between the Points A-B AND adding a part of Public Footpath numbered WB3, with a width of 2.4 metres (8 feet), which commences at the aforementioned Point A and runs in an east southeast, then east direction for 137 metres to the previously mentioned Point B. As shown on the Order plan by the broken black line with short intervals between the Points A-B.

All distances are approximate, all directions are general.

A copy of the Order as confirmed and Map may be seen free of charge during normal office hours at The Amelia Scott, Mount Pleasant Road, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN1 1AW or at the Kent County Council, History and Library Centre, James Whatman Way, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1LQ, from 10am-5pm. The documents can also be viewed online at www.kent.gov.uk/prownotices or a copy can be obtained by contacting Laura Wilkins on 03000 41 34 80 or email laura.wilkins@kent.gov.uk.

This Order became operative as from 20 May 2026 but if a person aggrieved by the Order desires to question the validity thereof or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53(3)(c)(i) & 53(3)(c)(iii) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 to the Act have not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the Order, they may, under Paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from 12 June 2026 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
