What is happening?
Southern Electric Power Distribution has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural A airs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006/section 23(2) of the National Trust Act 1971/article 12 of the Greater London Parks and Open Spaces Order 1967* to carry out restricted works on Northend Common.
The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State.The proposed electricity works are part of a landscape improvement project. The works require dismantling the existing LV, 11KV overhead line and installing a new 11KV underground cable, ground mounted substation within a Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) substation (20.25 square metres in demise) to replace the existing pole mounted transformer to maintain the local supplies. Two stays will also be added to the remaining LV terminal pole.
The works will be located as per the enclosed plan, reference 22005935_PLN_INFO_4.1_B, between British National Grid references SU 72887 92917 and SU 73410 92769.
