Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Hill Road which extends from Woodend Lane northwards for 1570m (to county boundary with Gloucestershire).

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon burst driven main renewal works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 25 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months.

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 months duration.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers and pedal cycles that length of Footpaths Harlech Way to Ludlow Close which extends from a point 30m south of Harlech Way southwards for 30m.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon underground structure work to provide fibre underground cabling.

(Alexander Road, Winterbourne) (Prohibition of Driving Restricted Hours) Experimental Order 2026
Details of changes

NOTICE is hereby given that on 13 May 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council made an experimental order under sections 9 and 10 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to prohibit any motor vehicle entering, proceeding or waiting in that length of Alexander Road which extends from its junction with Beckspool Road approximately 400m north, during the restricted hours.

Exemptions are contained in the order for vehicles to be used for building, industrial or demolition operations; the removal of any obstruction to traffic; the maintenance, improvement or reconstruction of the road; the laying, erection, alteration or repair in, or in land adjacent to the road of any sewer, or of any main, pipe or apparatus for the supply of gas, water or electricity or any telecommunication apparatus; in the service of a local authority and for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes in exercise of official duties and for the purpose of gaining access to premises accessible only from that length of road.

A further exemption will be included for permit holders. The restriction will be enforced using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras.

The Council’s Director of Place may modify or suspend the operation of the order or any of its provisions if it appears to him to be essential.

(Prohibition of Pedestrians) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that on 13 May 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 1(1) and 2(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to prohibit any pedestrians from entering and proceeding in lengths of A4174 Avon Ring Road and A4017 Bromley Heath Road, Downend. N.B. Since the scheme was originally advertised, please note the decision has been made to modify and reduce the extents of the restrictions to maintain unrestricted access across the A4174 for a public right of way known as the Frome Valley public footpath.

(A38 Gloucester Road, Almondsbury) (Reserved Bus Lane) (24 Hours) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that on 13 May 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to institute a bus lane by prohibiting all vehicles, other than cycles, dial-a-ride buses, motorcycles, taxis, private hire vehicles (with roof top signs) and public service vehicles (buses) from entering, proceeding or waiting in that length of the A38 Gloucester Road, Almondsbury southbound carriageway that extends south of its junction with Ferndale Close in a southerly direction to its junction with Hortham Lane.

Exemptions provided in the order include exemptions for any vehicle to enter proceed or wait in the bus lane for the removal of obstruction to traffic; police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes; the avoidance of an accident and access to or egress from off street loading or garaging facilities. Construction of Road Humps – Yate
Details of the proposed changes

NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in exercise of the powers conferred by section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 (hereinafter called ‘the Act’) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with section 90C(1) of the Act and those bodies or persons prescribed by the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 (hereinafter called ‘the Regulations’) and in accordance with section 90C(2) of the Act intends to construct road humps in the form of raised tables at the locations specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The road humps specified in Part 1 of the said Schedule will be 3.5m in length; the road hump in Part 2 will be 5.2m in length, the road hump in Part 3 will be 6m in length and the road hump in Part 4 will be 6m in length.

The humps will extend over the full width of the carriageway and will be 75mm in maximum height, subject to the tolerances permitted in the Regulations.

All distances and measurements are approximate and subject to construction tolerance.

NOTICE is hereby given that on 13 May 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to prohibit vehicles waiting at any time in lengths of Church Road, Sundays Hill and The Pound, Almondsbury.

Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; Post Office services; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles which display a disabled person’s badge.

On the 13 May 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council confirmed the above order. The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert that length of public footpath OAY 82 in the Parish of Almondsbury in the Unitary District of South Gloucestershire running south-south-west from an existing kissing gate at Point A just south of Merlin Road (grid reference ST 5877 8048) for a distance of 78m to Point B (grid reference ST 5874 8041) where it meets the unaffected footpath OAY 84 and shown by a bold black line marked A - B on the order map – to a new line running from Point A just south of Merlin Road (grid reference ST 5877 8048) running in a generally southerly direction for a distance of 73m to Point C (grid reference ST 5876 8041) where it meets the unaffected footpath OAY 84 and shown by a black dashed line marked A - C as shown on the order map. The path has a width throughout of 2m.
