Notice of Proposed Coast Protection Work
The Council, acting in their capacity as coast protection authority, hereby give notice under section 5(1) of the above Act that they propose to carry out coast protection work at Selsey West Beach, West Street.
The Selsey West Beach Urgent Works will consist of installation of a steel sheet piled wall fronting the existing sheet piles and concrete apron, concrete backfilling between the new and existing structures and encasement of the existing concrete revetment, where required. Works also include coring of existing structures and infilling of any identified voids.
The estimated cost of the works is £2,000,000. Details of the proposed works can be inspected at Chichester District Council, East Pallant House, 1 East Pallant, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1TY between the hours of 10:00 and 16:00, Monday to Friday. Any person may not later than 25/06/2026 serve a notice of objection to the proposal on the Secretary of State and on the Council.
Any such notice must contain a statement of the grounds of objection and must be delivered to or sent by post, fax or e-mail to the Secretary of State and to the Chief Executive of the Council. Notices to be posted may be addressed to the Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Flood Management, Seacole Building, 2 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DF, and to the Chief Executive at Chichester District Council 1 East Pallant, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1TY
