CONFIRMATION OF STREET TRADING RESOLUTION PASSED IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1982 -
REDESIGNATION OF SPECIFIED PROHIBITED STREETS AND THE DESIGNATION OF CONSENT STREETS

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Sunderland, via its Licensing and Regulatory Committee, (“the Council”), at its Extraordinary Meeting held on 13th April, 2026, passed the below resolution in accordance with Paragraph 2 of Schedule 4 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 after having been satisfied that no representations had been submitted in relation to the “Notice of Intention to Pass Street Trading Resolution” that had been advertised in the Sunderland Echo on 20th February, 2026, with a copy of the Notice having been served on the Chief Officer of Police and the Highway Authority on 20th February, 2026, :-
“The Licensing and Regulatory Committee resolved, :-
1. That all previous resolutions of the Council made pursuant to Paragraph 2 of Schedule 4 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, “(the Act”), to designate the below streets that are presently designated as prohibited streets be rescinded and that as from and including 1st May, 2026 they be redesignated as consent streets in accordance with Paragraph 2 of Schedule 4 of the Act, :-
Location :
Blandford Street
Blandford Street (from Maritime Place and Maritime Terrace to Waterloo Place)
Maritime Terrace (between Blandford Street and Crowtree Road)
Roker Baths Road (between Grantham Road and Association Road)
Sandringham Terrace (between Hampden Road and Grantham Road)
Hampden Road (Part Prohibited)
Association Road (between Roker Baths Road and Hampden Road)
2. That the below streets that are presently undesignated be designated as consent streets as from and including 1st May, 2026 in accordance with Paragraph 2 of Schedule 4 of the Act, :-
Location :
Newbottle Street, Houghton-le-Spring
Station Road, Houghton-le-Spring
Grey Street, Houghton-le-Spring
Hillside Way, Houghton-le-Spring
The Broadway, Houghton-le-Spring
Sunderland Street, Houghton-le-Spring
3. This resolution shall take effect on 1st May, 2026”.

(c) Anyone who engages in street trading in any street within the City of Sunderland which is a consent street without consent will be committing an offence and will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3.
