NOTICE UNDER SECTION 38 OF THE
LOCAL GOVERNMENT FINANCE ACT 1992
COUNCIL TAX 2026-2027
Wigan Council, in accordance with Section 30 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, has
set the following amounts of Council Tax for the financial year commencing 1st April 2026 for
each category of dwelling in its area.
If you are on low income, you may be entitled to a Council Tax Reduction, even if you are
already in receipt of Universal Credit or working and receiving a low wage, we may be able to
help you. The amount of reduction will depend on your household’s income and savings, the
size of your family and the amount of your Council Tax bill after discounts.
