COUNCIL TAX 2026/2027
Notice is hereby given that, in pursuance of the powers conferred on Maidstone Borough Council as Billing Authority for its district by Section 38(2) of The Local Government Finance Act 1992, the Council hereby sets for the chargeable financial year beginning with 1 April 2026 and ending with 31 March 2027, the Council Tax for its area as set out below:-

Empty Properties - dwellings which are normally unoccupied and unfurnished for a period of 12 months or less will receive a discount of 0%.
Empty Properties - dwellings which are normally unoccupied and unfurnished for a period of one year or more will receive a discount of 0% and have the Council Tax charge increased by 100%.
Empty Properties - dwellings which are normally unoccupied and unfurnished for a period longer than five years or more will receive a discount of 0% and have the Council Tax charge increased by 200%.
Empty Properties - dwellings which are normally unoccupied and unfurnished for a period longer than ten years or more will receive a discount of 0% and have the Council Tax charge increased by 300%.
Empty and unfurnished properties requiring or undergoing structural repair or alteration or
major repair works will receive a discount of 0%.
